Prophecy – Signs
By Wendy Wippel
You don’t have to look far afield for irrational (but nonetheless rabid) hatred of God’s chosen people. Exhibit A: Louis Farrakhan, who says that the Jews control American politics, media, finance and Hollywood. And most black organizations too. (Jews are also responsible for the slave trade. Go figure.) History has proven that Farrakahn has plenty of company with respect to his aversion to all things Israel. And I think we might have just passed a major prophetic milestone that might have gotten lost in the tinsel and toy drums.
Most of us, I think, were not so immersed in the seasons charms that we were completely ignorant of the political events of December 6. Namely, that the United States initiated a motion at the UN proposing that Jerusalem be named the official Capitol of Israel.
Or the end results of that proposal: The United Nations– nearly unanimously– voted to condemn President Donald Trump’s proposal. (128 to 9)
They also voted to condemn his decision, subsequently, to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel any way.
For what that’s worth.
Some of the countries were obviously going to be anti-Israel. And they were.
A lot of the countries that we otherwise consider allies just went chicken on us. Nine voted “no,” and 35 nations total abstained.
A few days after I had first read the summary of what went down on December 6, it suddenly occurred to me that this definitely seems to have some prophetic impact.
Namely, a fairly obscure verse in Micah 4:11: Now also many nations have gathered against you, who say, “Let her be defiled, And let our eye look upon Zion”.
In today’s vernacular (courtesy of the Good News Translation): Many nations have gathered to attack you. They say, “Jerusalem must be destroyed! We will see this city in ruins!”
And, it would seem, we are only a short step away from the thoughts of the world, at least those 128 nations that voted against Jerusalem as the rightful capitol of Israel to those thoughts voiced as these verses in Micah predict.
The Bible has a little bit more about the situation about this fateful prophesied standoff. And it says it in the next few verses in in Micah.
“But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord, nor do they understand his counsel. For he will father them like sheaves to the threshing floor. Arise ad thresh, O daughter of The truth is that The Jewish state has agreed over and over again to different partition plans.”
The Palestinians consistently reject them. There stated goal, in fact, was to drown the Jewish state in rivers of blood. Jews would never be accepted on (supposed) Arab lands. One historian observed, after Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon invaded Israel, (and lost). After a year of fighting, the new Jewish state won a decisive victory and the Palestinian Arabs seemed “completely unable to understand that when you lost a war there were generally unpleasant consequences. Like you usually lost some of your land. And maybe even your whole country”.
Thus this 80 year-old stand off. The whole world would like to see this resolved.
But only one side will really come to the table.
According to Palestinian rhetoric; all of the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea (which includes all of Israel) is a religious Waqf (meaning an Islamic religious trust). And any Moslem who relinquishes any part of the land to Israel is damned to Hell.
In that framework, all agreements with Israel are only made because Israel has the strongest bargaining position, and all agreements are understood by Palestinians to be ignored (for their side) at will.
And, the Palestinians believe, the ultimate destruction of Israel is a certainty.
Because Allah wills it.
The Bible, however, disagrees..
Lord’s Reign in Zion
Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And peoples shall flow to it.
Many nations shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion the law shall go forth,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Micah 4:1-2
May God hasten that day!
Do you hear trumpets?
