How to Deal With the 2020 Election Results
By Bud Hancock
Two days after the historic 2020 POTUS election was supposed to end and the election results declared, it has become obvious that this was not a normal election. There were predictions of voting fraud many months before election day arrived, and it appears certain that all those predictions were accurate. Never in US history has an election been so fraught with fraud and corruption. It has made our country a laughingstock of sorts around the world and placed our liberty and freedoms, especially our religious freedom, in terrible jeopardy.
How to Deal With the Results?
How to deal with the election results so far: We can hope that a miracle occurs and the correct/true results appear, not the phony results that were mostly caused by fraud, and in some certain geographical areas, MASSIVE fraud. But, fraud is fraud, regardless of the size and the geographical area in which it occurs. As a Christian, I believe that God hates all forms of dishonesty; in fact, He has said as much in His word (Proverbs 6:16-19).
So, do we plead with God to expose all the dishonesty that was just perpetrated in this election, and bring His judgment down on all those guilty of the fraud? As an American citizen who has loved his country for nearly eighty years, that is most certainly what I WANT to do. In fact, in my flesh, I would revel in seeing all those cheaters very publicly judged for their crimes. But, what should my spirit want? I know that Jesus said in His word: “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust…”
I am very sure I’m not the only American Christian who feels he or she has been despitefully used as a result of the blatant cheating in this election. So, again, in my flesh, I want to strike back at those who have caused the pain and frustration I feel as a result of their malicious, evil, hateful, mean, nasty, poisonous, venomous, vicious and wicked (all synonyms for the word ‘despiteful’) cheating in order to steal an election from the American voters. But, if the word has any authority in my life, I must begin to look at, and for, another response to the voter fraud witnessed. It is a given that we should pray about this awful situation, but, exactly how do we pray?
Jesus taught His disciples the way we are supposed to pray and it was recorded in Matthew chapter 6: “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.”
What is God’s Will and How Do We Find It?
Anyone who believes that any will, except the perfect will of God, is done in Heaven needs to take a basic refresher course in Christianity. God is perfect, He knows the end from the beginning, and nothing, absolutely nothing, catches Him by surprise. He knew everything that would happen on any given day, week, month, year and century in this age. He knew long before November 3, 2020 what the outcome of this election would be. I am NOT saying that everything that happens is God’s will, far from it, and I’m certainly not saying that the preliminary results as reported so far are/were God’s will. God provides all the information every person needs to make the right decisions about every issue he will face, but that does not mean all persons seek for, find or follow the guidance in that information. In fact, many know the information (for example, Satan is an expert on Bible interpretation) and still refuse to accept it, believe it or act on it. Further, there are many who not only do not accept it, but work tirelessly to oppose it (suppress it) and keep others from receiving it and acting on it (Romans 1:18 KJV). As it is written in that passage, those who do so have placed themselves in the position of receiving the wrath of God, but, the decision to send that wrath or withhold it is God’s and His alone.
So, I must not pray that God judge them and destroy them even though that is what my flesh and mind scream out for. No, I must pray as Jesus taught: Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. I learned long ago that my will and God’s will do not always agree. This could well be due to the fact that He IS perfect and I am still a flawed man (Ya think?). So, any attempt to force my will on God with my long winded prayers that run contrary to His word are only an exercise in futility. God said, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof…” (Psalm 24:1 KJV); He, and He alone has the right and the authority to do as He pleases with His creation. Because of His perfect character, He will NOT force His will on any man or woman, nor will He allow any amount of wrong praying to cause Him to be influenced or to change His mind. To do so would be to announce to Satan, to the world and to heaven, that He can be influenced by the whims of man, and just to reinforce that: He cannot and will not allow that to happen, Thank God! The big question right now might be, what is God’s will in this election? The answer? God’s will is His word. We can only find it there.
How Important is God’s Wisdom in Knowing His Will?
Was this nation given a four year extension on the judgment due to it on the basis of the national sins that have been building up for many years? I have heard it specifically expressed, that God caused the election of Donald J. Trump in 2016 for that very purpose. I cannot say whether that is true, but, I know that God is very patient and merciful; in fact, the phrase, “His mercy entereth forever” can be found nearly two dozen times in the Bible. However, God is the very essence of true wisdom, and His is not the earthly sensual and devilish wisdom of the world. Again, James stated it thus: “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” (James 3:13-18 KJV).
We certainly can, and should, pray and ask for God’s wisdom regarding how to respond to this election and from the wisdom received, allow ourselves to be guided as to how to act and react in the coming days. Asking for His wisdom is a sound Biblical principle and James the half-brother of Jesus stated that in his letter: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:5-8 KJV).
Acceptance of What Might Be a Disastrous Situation
So, that brings us back to the original question: “How do we deal with the results of the 2020 election”? At this moment, we are still waiting for the outcomes of hundreds of lawsuits filed by the GOP, the Trump campaign and individual citizens, trying to get justice for all those who voted for an incumbent President, and who seemingly were cheated out of a victory. To begin with, we should NOT sit around and mope, allowing ourselves to become depressed and downtrodden. If we are true believers in our awesome God and His awesome Son, Jesus Christ, then we must also realize that, even though this election may result in what many on the ‘political right’ would consider a loss, God does NOT lose, period. We must chastise ourselves for allowing any doubt about God being in complete control, to even enter our minds.
As I said previously, God is never caught off guard, nor is He ever surprised by any event. Let’s use that as a starting point on our quest to determine our ‘post-election’ behavior. If the final election results determine that Donald Trump is the 46th POTUS, then, great, wonderful, life is good. However, if the opposite becomes a fact, then what? If God, in His omniscience, has already determined that the United States will have Joe Biden (actually Kamala Harris) to be the 46th POTUS, then it may be the sign many have been expecting, the sign that the judgment God has reserved for a nation that long ago turned its back on Him, in spite of the amazing blessings He has provided for them, is imminent. I doubt there is a true Christian in this nation that would question the belief that this nation will face judgment for its abominable stands on homosexuality, abortion, desertion of true family values and true marriage, not to mention the apostasy that the formerly great American Church has slipped into. God is a jealous God Who does not share His glory with any man, or false god. We must admit that we are earthly citizens of a flawed nation, but only in this flesh and blood life does that citizenship have any meaning. In reality, we are pilgrims and strangers, as were all those ‘witnesses’ mentioned in the 11th chapter of Hebrews, all of whom lived their lives wandering through a land which they knew was not the final place they would call home. We, as well, must realize that, regardless of how wonderful our lives have been, and how blessed we were to have been born in the United States of America, we are just as they all were: pilgrims and strangers looking for that blessed country where we will spend an eternity in the presence of God. And guess what? The USA is NOT that country.
I will admit that the unfolding events connected to the election have caused me some grief and suffering, but only as I view them from a human, natural perspective. I have to force myself to view them in a different way, that is, in a way that will make sense, and be a source of comfort, regardless of the outcome. So, what is that way? Well, since we know that God IS in control, consider this: If Trump wins the election, then God is in control and His will is done, and God wins (remember, He never loses). And, on the other hand, if Biden wins the election, then God is still in control and His will is done and God still wins (remember, He never loses). What I am saying is that, no matter the outcome, God wins, and if we are in Christ, then we also win. We cannot consider that we are losers just because the candidate we supported in an important election lost. As long as we pray correctly: “Father, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, we must consider that, just as God wins, so do we.
If the election, fraudulently or not, of Joe Biden really IS God’s will, then, knowing what we know about the man Joe Biden, an evil, corrupt man with well-advanced dementia, and the woman Kamala Harris, a woman possessed by a ‘spirit of Jezebel’ (research her life and try to prove me wrong) should be an alarm bell that signals the beginning of serious Godly judgment on this nation. If so, does this mean that we should be happy that an obviously fraudulent election may begin the judgment on an apostate nation? Of course not, we should hope for and expect that all elections would be conducted in a fair and transparent manner. But remember this: We live, temporarily, in a cursed world, a world dominated by men of evil intentions, using a foul and corrupt process known as politics to maintain that godless, evil domination. That domination, along with every person who is a part of it, has always been awaiting the moment when the judgment of God against it, judgment as a means to purge the world from all its evil and corruption, would begin If this is the moment that purge begins, then we should rejoice that God is in control, and trust me, He will handle the purge with the utmost perfection and precision and the outcome of that purge will be an eternal victory for all those that love God and are a part of His family.
It’s OK To Be Angry
Please understand that I am angry and frustrated at the level of corruption and lawlessness I see occurring in my beloved country. Being angry is NOT a sin, but how we handle that anger can lead to sin. We are living in a world that has become seduced by a spirit of self-indulgence and utter depravity. But, recall that we were told this would happen, as a natural progression of the activation of the law of sin and death that began nearly 6000 years ago when Satan, the fallen archangel, deceived the human race and, having then become the “god (small ‘g’) of this world”, took control of the governing mechanism that should never have left the hands of man, and brought the world into the sorry state it is in now. He used his SOP (standard operating procedure) that, even to this day, starts with deception and leads to delusion. Once a people, or a nation, accepts the deception of Satan and as a result of prolonged deception, enters the ‘delusion stage’ (and especially the ‘strong delusion stage’), the process accelerates. As a result of their own actions and rejection of God, discussed by Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:10-13, which is comparable to the ‘reprobate mind stage’ spoken of in the first chapter of Romans, the next step beyond delusion is damnation for such people.
As much as we would like to interrupt the process of the ‘law of sin and death’ and have our lives “return to normal”, I believe we are now past that point and the best we can hope for is to be completely prepared when the judgment starts and be prepared through obedience to God’s word, to allow God, in his mercy (the mercy that endures forever) to cover us and keep us protected from that judgment.
Persecution, Is It Coming?
Even though God has promised to keep us through the storms of life, and protect us from wrath, we can not claim the same promise to protect us from persecution, and trust me, that is coming also. In fact, if you are living correctly (godly) in Christ Jesus, persecution is a surety. Paul told his disciple Timothy: “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12 KJV).
During the coming persecution, we will also be asking ourselves, “How do we handle this persecution?” The model of behavior for those going through persecution is to rejoice and sing praises to God, as did Paul and Silas when they were beaten and imprisoned for preaching the Word of God in Philippi (Acts 16:12-40 KJV). The Lord showed Himself strong on their behalf and through an earthquake, opened their prison doors and set them free. As a result, they were able to influence the jailer and bring salvation to his house, and eventually start the Church in Philippi.
As difficult as it may be, especially since the Body of Christ has not experienced the kind of serious persecution the Church has in other nations for many years, we must consider this exhortation from the Word as our instruction in these coming days of persecution.
As bad as ’bad times’ can get, we can comfort ourselves knowing that they are temporary and are not to be compared to the glory we shall experience when our Lord calls us home in the rapture and then returns to execute His judgment on the wicked of this world.
Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
