I’ll Never Find Another You

Last Week, I took an extended road trip, and had a lot of time to think; mostly about life in general, but especially time to evaluate my relationship with My Jesus. During the drive, I found an “oldies” radio station that played music from the 50’s and 60’s. This was from my early to mid-teens, and one song came to mind that suddenly took on a new meaning for me.
The Seekers released “I’ll Never Find Another You” in 1965, and at the time it was a favorite “love song” among the teens. However, listening to the lyrics today, I gained a whole new insight, and have applied it as a “prayer/request” to my Savior. I got the words from the internet, and any emphasis added is mine.
The first stanza is, “There’s a new world somewhere, they call the Promised Land; and I’ll be there someday, if you (Jesus) will hold my hand. I still need You there beside me, no matter what I do; for I know I’ll never find another You.”
As one who loves to study prophecy, and especially about the end time, I am looking for and longing for the return of My King. This first part reminds me that as a believer, I have an eternal home waiting for me, as do all believers. We just need to be led by the hand by the greatest Shepherd of all.
I am not perfect, and do slip and sin, but I know that my Jesus will never abandon me. When asked, He forgives us and lets us know we are His forever. (1 John 1:8-10)
Next part, “There is always Someone, for each of us they say; and You’ll be my Someone, forever and a day.”
Years ago, I took John 14:6 as my life verse, “Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by Me.” Jesus is my Someone, and I know there is no one else greater. His love is boundless, and He is there not only for me, but all who will call on Him to be saved. (Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13)
The next line sums this up very well, “I could search the whole world over, until my life is through; but I know I’ll never find another You.” No one could ever replace My Lord.
Next, “It’s a long long journey, so stay by my side; when I walk through the storm (Psalm 23) You’ll be my guide.” Hebrews 13:5b says, “……I will never leave you, and I will never abandon you.” He provides our needs and wants us to worship Him, not the things of this world. Every worldly “thing” we have will stay here when we leave this earth. We can enjoy what He has given us, but need to remember it’s all on loan from Him to begin with. No matter what trials and problems we have here, Jesus is there with us to provide support and comfort.
The thought continues with the next line, “If they gave me a fortune, my pleasure would be small; I could lose it all tomorrow, and never mind at all.” The treasures of this world are just that – of this world. As long as we have Jesus in our hearts, we can never lose. That which waits for us will make everything here very dull by comparison.
The final stanza puts the seal on it, “But if I should lose your love, Dear; I don’t know what I’d do; for I know I’ll never find another You.”
The only way we could ever “lose” Jesus is if we never accept Him in the first place. That one would be on us, not Him. God is no respecter of persons, and shows no partiality. And, yes, Jesus is God. (John 10:30) Our acceptance or rejection of Him is up to each and every individual.
Acts 10:34-35, “Then Peter started speaking; I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people, (35) but in every nation, the persons who fear Him and does what is right (accepts Jesus), is welcomed before Him.” Peter had been with Jesus throughout His ministry here, but did not really come to an understanding until Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit entered Him. Over his remaining lifetime, it all fell into place, and he became a bold advocate for the Lord.
Romans 2:11, Paul plainly states, “For there is no partiality with God.” That goes for rewards as well as discipline. Those who do evil will be distressed. Those who do good will have honor and peace. He states, “…for the Jew first, and also the Greek (gentiles)”.
Over the course of my lifetime, I have learned there are many ways I can worship and honor my Jesus. However, against what many false prophets will tell you, there’s only one way to the Father and that is through His Son, Jesus. (again, John 14:6)
Also, all religions do not worship the same God. My Heavenly Father is the Lord God Jehovah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, and He loves us so much He sent a part of Himself (Jesus) as a sacrifice that would be acceptable as payment for our sins. (John 3:16) We cannot earn or buy our salvation, and we definitely do not deserve it.
Through the grace of our Savior – He took our punishment we deserve – and the mercy of our Father – not giving us the punishment we deserve – we have the free gift of an eternal home with Him, if we will truly accept that gift. Leaving it “wrapped” and “unopened” on the table will do us no good.
Our cost for this? Have faith and believe Jesus came to this earth and died on the cross at Calvary. Up to then, He lived a sinless life on this earth, so He could be the “unblemished Lamb”. After He died, God raised Him from the dead to conquer sin and death for us once and for all. There is no other sacrifice we can make to do this for ourselves. No other price we can pay.
If we do not accept Jesus, our destiny is the Lake of Fire – Hell – forever. (Revelation 20:11-15) It’s totally our choice, and each individual has to make it for themselves. No parent can do so for their children, and no pastor of any kind can accept this for his congregation.
Go back to the words of the song, and if you need to play it over YouTube or whatever other site, listen carefully to the words and think of Jesus. Hopefully you’ll also see we can never find anyone greater than Him.
