I Am A Bride To Be!

I Am A Bride To Be!
By Dennis Huebshman

I can hardly wait to finally get to be a blushing bride. There is a Bridegroom out there that I love dearly and am looking forward to being carried over the threshold. It will happen when 1 Thessalonians 4:17 takes place in what’s been called the Rapture or Gathering up the Church. Then all my wants and wishes will be finalized.

From the title, one may think I have some questionable characteristics but per Revelation 19:7, the wedding celebration of the Lamb (Jesus) has come and His bride (all believers) has made herself ready. The only marriage that will take in Heaven is Jesus becoming the Bridegroom of the whole church. Matthew 22:30 says for in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angles in Heaven.

As a bride, I would like to be pure and holy and worthy to wear white for my Savior, but during my time here, I have been anything but. My Jesus has resolved this for me. Psalm 103:10-12 (paraphrased) tells us He doesn’t make us accountable for our sins as He should, but through His love and provision of a perfect sacrifice for us has removed our sins as far as the Eastern horizon is from the West and removes our guilt for our rebellious actions. Jesus said as a good shepherd He laid His life down for us (John 10:11).

Isaiah 1:18 also reveals that even though our sins are stained like scarlet, we can become as white as snow. He promises to accept us as John 1:12 says all who have received Him – those who believe in His name – he has given the right to become God’s children. Also, some verses I like to refer to are Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13 that ALL who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. John 3:15 tells us EVERYONE who believes in Him may have eternal life.

We have a Great Father who loves His Son and has placed all things under His authority. The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath remains on him. (John 3: 35-36)

Normally, the bride provides a dowry, but in our case the Father provided the greatest dowry that could ever be. It was sealed in blood by His Precious Son on the cross as a token of His eternal love for us. Our eternal life was guaranteed on that third day when Jesus arose to fully complete the conquest of sin and death.

It stands to reason, the Father would want something in return for what His Son went through for us. The price of even one drop of blood from our Precious Savior is more valuable than all the treasures this would could ever produce. Imagine the value of ALL the blood He shed.

So, what’s our cost for all of this? Belief and Acceptance. Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6) So how do we know we can accept this as truth? Jesus said in John 8:32 and 36 that we would know the truth and the truth would set us free, and that if the Son has set us free we will be free indeed.

If we truly believe Jesus is the Son of God (1/3 of the Trinity) and that He came to this earth and became human so He could be an example to us all, we are part way to full acceptance. The rest of the “price” is to believe He really sacrificed Himself on the cross (John 10:18), died a human death, and rose the third day to conquer sin and death as stated before. Now all that’s left is to ask His forgiveness of our sins and to be accepted as one of His own. He will not turn us away.

Some may want to “pay” for this tremendous blessing but that insults the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Man could never ever pay enough for the free gift that was given. Some think they can earn it through works, but in a million lifetimes we could never satisfy the debt. The Father wants us to accept the gift He gave with no strings attached. For this, His Son will prepare a place for us to be with Him. (John 14: 1-3)

The main problem today is man thinks he has to “do something” which means he doesn’t believe in the Father. Once a person gets it in his/her mind that His way is best, the fitting for the “wedding gown” can take place. At this point, a believer begins to long to be with the Bridegroom and awaits anxiously for the Trumpet to sound and the Shout from the Arch Angel signifying the “Wedding” is taking place now.

It’s not far off, and believers will be gone from this earth. Call on the name of the Lord today and assure yourself a home with Him forever.
