His Sacrifice – Our Victory

His Sacrifice – Our Victory
By Dennis Huebshman

From 1 Corinthians 15:54a-55: “Death has been swallowed up in Victory. Where O death is your Victory? Where O death is your sting?” Isaiah 25:8, “…he will swallow up death forever; the sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces, He will remove His people’s disgrace from all the earth.” Philippians 1:21, “For to me living is Christ and dying is gain.” (any emphasis is mine.)

John 14:2-3, “There are many dwelling places in My Father’s house. Otherwise, I would have told you because I am going to make ready a place for you. (3) And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me (rapture) so that where I am, you may be too.

From a song written in 1939 by E.M. Bartlett, “I heard an old old story; How a Savior came from glory; How He gave His life at Calvary; to save a wretch like me. I heard about His groaning; of His precious blood’s atoning; Then I repented of my sins; and won the Victory!”

(third verse) “I heard about a mansion; He has built for me in glory (John 14:2); and I heard about the streets of gold (Revelation 21-21); beyond the crystal sea (Revelation 22:1); about the Angel’s singing; and the old redemption story; and some sweet day I’ll sing up there; the song of Victory.”

(chorus) “O Victory in Jesus; My Savior Forever! He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him; and all my love is due Him; He plunged me to Victory; beneath the cleansing flood.” (the shed blood of our Savior)

There is absolutely no way you “deserve” all that My Jesus has done for us – and as a matter of fact, neither do I. I do claim Him as my own personal Savior though, and because He’s so wonderful, I want to share Him with ALL who will accept Him. The treasure He has given us (eternal life with Him) cannot be bought at any price or earned with any works we could possibly do. (Ephesians 2:8) Each and every drop of blood He shed for us was far more valuable than all the treasure this earth could possibly hold.

With His sacrifice, He washed the sins away from ALL who will call on Him, but He will in no way force anyone to accept His offer. It has to be a complete and personal and voluntary acceptance because otherwise it would not be a true loving relationship. For those who have not reached an age of accountability, which is different for each individual, Jesus has shown a special love for children. I also believe He takes into account anyone who is mentally incompetent. No matter what, He is fair and impartial.

Before anyone believes Jesus was forced to be the sacrifice for us, please read John 10:17-18, “This is why the Father loves me – because I lay down My Life, so that I may take it back again. (18) No one takes it (human life) from me, but I lay it down of My own free will. I have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority (He’s God) to take it back again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

In Matthew 26:53, Jesus told Peter to put away his sword, “Or do you think I cannot call on My Father and that He would send Me more than 12 Legions of Angels right now?” The picture that comes to my mind is Jesus is in an arena and there are two opposing sides witnessing all the events. Satan and his demons on one side, and the Heavenly Angelic Host on the other. The evil side was thinking they were about to win a major victory, but the Angelic Host was at the ready to save Jesus. Because Jesus went voluntarily, neither side had to respond. Upon His resurrection a few days later, the victory was won over sin and death by the “Perfect Sacrifice” of the “Lamb of God / Lion of Judah”.

At the resurrection, satan knew he was defeated, and he, like humans, does not know the day or hour that Jesus will call His Church home, and the final 7 years begins. At this time in history, it is evident we are in the last days spoken of by Jesus and all the end-time prophets, and that is one reason we are seeing things take place that are leading up to the tribulation period. The progression is getting faster and faster, and soon all true believers will hear the call and the sound of the trumpet or shofar. Satan and his crew are getting desperate and are pulling out all the stops. All one has to do is look at world news to see how far the morality has fallen. Wrong is right and right is wrong in the eyes of the world, and anything Christian is being attacked. Speaking of news, the main stream media is mostly faux news slanted toward the world, not toward Jesus

For anyone who has not accepted Jesus as their Savior, these are very troubling times and the fear of death hangs in the air. For true believers, even though the times are difficult, there is that ray of Hope that the Holy Spirit fills us with knowing our journey is about over. At just about any second, we could be with Jesus, and Yes, it will be just that fast. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:52, “…in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable and we will all be changed.” That is real Victory!

From the very creation of this earth, the Father knew He would have to provide the “perfect acceptable sacrifice”. For all who put their faith and trust in the father prior to the Cross will rise up in glory to spend eternity in paradise. For those who did not, they will not rise again until the White Throne Judgment of Revelation 20:11-15.

All who accept Jesus as their Savior, from the Cross forward, will be saved and be in paradise with Him forever. All who do not accept Jesus will join the long line at the same Judgment as the one mentioned above. There is no third option. The choice you make today could affect your eternal soul. Joshua said it best in chapter 24:15, “Choose this day who you will serve, but as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

Shalom!
