Worthy, Fearless, and Equipped

Worthy, Fearless, and Equipped
By Pat Harrigan

The enemy uses many tactics to keep us from sharing the gospel. Keeping our attention on worldly distractions is one tactic that we looked at last week. We’ll shift now to see how he uses our egos to stop us from stepping out in obedience.

WORTHY

Have you ever said or thought? “I’m not worthy to be used by God to spread the Gospel.” or, “I’ve been too much of a sinner to preach.” Both statements are lies of the enemy to make us focus on our flesh rather than on our position. Our flesh never was, nor ever will be worthy to be used by God. Jesus came into the world for the express purpose of saving sinners for His use. (1Tim.1:15). God made us “…accepted in the Beloved.” “…according to the good pleasure of His will,” (Eph.1:5,6). We are only worthy in Him, so then, let us forget “…those things which are behind, and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God…” (Phil.3:13,14).

FEARLESS

Does your heart flutter and your palms sweat at the mere thought of sharing the Gospel? Good! This means you have “…no confidence in the flesh,” (Phil.3:3). We need to remember that it is not us or our cleverness that saves, but the Spirit of God in us who is doing the work, so that we really have nothing to fear, “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore…”. (Mt.10:30,31). and “…For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.” (Mt.10:19,20).

EQUIPPED

“But I don’t know enough to share the Gospel!” Really??? How much do we have to know? If we know the Gospel by which we were saved, then we know enough to share with others. We don’t need to show the world how smart we are about God, rather, how needy we were without Jesus. Just speak truthfully and give your testimony of how you believed the Gospel which is: (*)

1.) Jesus died on the cross paying for the sins of the world.
2.) Jesus was buried proving His death.
3.) Jesus rose from the dead 3 days later and is now alive.
4.) God promises to give that same eternal life to whosoever believes this good news.

Now go out and share this with them. It only takes 2 minutes.

(*) 1Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; :4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
