Eve of Destruction

In 1965, “Eve of Destruction” by Barry McGuire was released, and was believed to be one of the most significant protest songs of that era. Viet Nam was the “hot topic” of the day, and there were protests nationwide. Draft dodging was a common phrase. The drug culture was just getting started.
Looking at what’s happening in the world today compared to the mid-1960’s, it’s even more discouraging. The Viet Nam protests were just a small prelude to our present conditions around our planet.
Just recently, a man named “Christian” (Bale) gave thanks and praise to satan for an award he received for portraying a past vice president in a movie. Rather than “shock and awe”, the audience applauded. Also, the “Church of Satan” gave him a favorable press. If this had taken place in the 1960’s, there would have been an outcry from just about every evangelical church in the country. Today, the churches are unusually silent about this. Further, there were no churches of satan that were out in public back then. They have been in existence since Jesus’ day, but were kept behind closed doors in secret.
Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide, and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. (14) But, the gate is narrow, and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (emphasis mine)
Jesus spoke these words almost 2000 years ago, that true believers would be in the minority. The world has gone through a few “revival” periods in some areas, where people would not be afraid to proclaim their love for the Savior. On the other hand, America was formed on freedom of religion, not from religion as some groups would say, because there was persecution elsewhere. Our constitution gives us the freedom to worship, or not, as we choose, and be free to do so. Obviously, this did not mean to condone any form of human sacrifice or such as that.
The lines of each side are being plainly drawn, and today, Matthew 7:14 is painfully obvious. Business owners around the country that are known to be Christian, are being singled out for persecution. Lawsuits have been filed by the alternate lifestyle groups, and the liberal courts are assisting in shutting them down. Some cases are bound for the U.S. Supreme Court, but that takes time. Many of the Christians have had to close their businesses because of financial ruin Ironically, there are businesses of the same nature that would accommodate the “alternates”, but the radicals purposely select the Christians for persecution. In the past, liberal presidents stacked the courts with liberal judges to carry out this mission.
There are prominent groups in this country that actually seek anything pertaining to Jesus that can be attacked. They are being backed by some serious funding from different sources. This is a prelude to setting up a one-world government, one-world religion (antichrist worship) and a technical network that can control every part of the earth at once.
Atheism, satanism, false religions, all the letters of the alternate lifestyles, and anything else along those lines are operating unopposed. The liberal left has gone above and beyond to protect their “rights”, while trying to establish anything Christian as unlawful, and declaring us a hate organization.
Of course, this is nothing new as Jesus was persecuted and crucified by the religious leaders of His day. Paul was constantly challenged by religious leaders, as was Peter, John and all the other disciples. The difference from then to now is the “Church” was just forming, and was growing worldwide. The Holy Spirit filled people would accept death, rather than to recant their belief in Jesus.
Today, the growth has slowed on the Christian side, but is accelerating rapidly on the secular side. I’ve used 2 Thessalonians 2:11 before, where God sends a “deluding” influence to those who reject Jesus. This is supposed to be in full force when the “lawless one” is revealed after the Rapture. It is my belief, this “deluding” influence is underway today, making the pathway ready for the final antichrist.
Jesus, Paul and others told us in the Bible what the conditions would be like near the end. Everything they said is here right now. Not only attitudes, but weather conditions, natural disasters, and Christian persecution world-wide are here.
Israel is a prosperous country with a booming economy that is ripe for an attack from other nations for their resources (Ezekiel 38). There is a coalition (Russia, Iran and Turkey) that has formed over just the past couple years, that was never in place before, yet this coalition was prophesied almost 2500 years ago. Syria is also involved, but is basically being controlled by others. One day, there will be an event that will destroy Damascus in one day (Isaiah 17). The time line is known only to the Father, but evidence shows it will be soon. When, not if, the war begins, it will appear that Israel will be overwhelmed. However, the battle belongs to the Lord, and He will save Israel in a way that they will know it could have only been done by Him.
If Barry McGuire were to do an “Eve of Destruction” today, he would have unlimited verses that would totally overwhelm the original version.
So believers, we know we are on that “Eve”. Best part is we are promised that we will not go through the “Wrath”, but will be taken up (Raptured) by Jesus before it begins. The coalition of the world concerns us, but we are not totally distraught about it. We see the “Light” at the end, and we have a definite Hope because of promises from the Father.
We are most willing to share our Jesus with anyone in the world who will accept Him. Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13, “All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
All that has happened, and is happening, has been prophesied. All that we’re told that will take place, will take place. To be in the group (minority) that escapes the Wrath, and will be with Jesus forever, one has to accept Him (Romans 10:9-13). The difficult part of Matthew 7:14 is believing it is true, and putting your faith and trust in God. Many will consider this foolishness.
God is the Creator; satan is the destroyer. Jesus is eternal life; satan is eternal punishment. It’s totally your choice which one you will serve. There is no other way, no other choice. Eve of Destruction, or Eve of Salvation.
