The Rapture Report – 01/15/2018 – Palestinians offered Abu Dis for Capital of Future State

There seems to be a lot of movement on the ground concerning the two-state solution. While U.S. President Donald Trump is still working on his Middle East plan, it might be that parts of it are being leaked by the Palestinians. There is a report out in the Israeli news that suggests that the Palestinians are being offered the eastern Jerusalem town of Abu Dis as a possible capital of a future Palestinian state.

The Jerusalem Post is reporting that PA President Abbas is telling this at a meeting of the Palestinian Central Council, which is the PLO’s second-highest decision-making body, as they are meeting over Trump’s Jerusalem declaration made last month. The Jerusalem Post article reports:

The Palestinians are being offered Abu Dis as the capital of a future Palestinian state, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said on Sunday. Abu Dis is a Palestinian town on the outskirts of Jerusalem, where Al-Quds University, one of the largest Palestinian universities, is located.

Abbas’s comments came during a speech he delivered to a meeting of the Palestinian Central Council, the Palestine Liberation Organization’s second-highest decision-making body. “What would you want if Jerusalem were to be lost? Would you want to make a state with Abu Dis as its capital?” Abbas stated rhetorically. “That’s what they are offering us now. Abu Dis.”

Further:

The PA president did not identify who specifically is offering Abu Dis as the capital of a future Palestinian state. However, a number of reports over the past several weeks, anonymously quoting Palestinian and Lebanese officials, have said that a forthcoming US peace plan includes Abu Dis as the capital of a future Palestinian state.

Speaking about the future US peace plan, Abbas said he has already said “no” to US President Donald Trump. “We can say no to anyone… And we have now said ‘no’ to Trump and others. No, we will not accept his plan,” Abbas said. “We told him that the deal of the era is the slap of the era… We will repel it.”

Since Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and initiated the relocation of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city, Palestinian-American relations have deteriorated. Nonetheless, White House officials have said they still plan to publish their peace plan and expect that it will appeal to the Palestinians.

However, despite all of Abbas’ fiery rhetoric and assertions, he continued to say later on in the meeting that he would continue to work towards a two-state solution:

Abbas also reiterated his support for the two-state solution. “I’m with the two states…according to international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, the State of Palestine along 1967 borders,” he said. Most of the international community holds that Israel and the Palestinians should resolve their conflict by way of a two-state solution.

There was also another article recently that suggested that the Israelis had offered land in the desert surrounding Gaza for a Palestinian state if they would agree to swap it for the West Bank. The Israelis had reportedly made this offer back during the Obama administration but it was rejected by Egypt and the PA. I think the offer was a good one that the PA should have taken, but that would have ended the Palestinian complaints against Israel and so that could not be allowed to happen without the complete destruction of Israel, which is unfortunately the real goal. The Palestinians are not looking for true peace, they have demonstrated that time and time again.

But even so, it appears that with the latest reports that there is some degree of “outside the box” thinking going on in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Which is a very good thing since everything else has failed to result in a peace deal. This is exactly what the Bible predicted in the last days that Jerusalem would be a “burdensome stone” to all who would come against it. We are definitely seeing that play out in our time.

I don’t know what will happen in regards to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, but it seems the big holdup at the moment is the Trump peace deal. I think the Palestinians will look at it, but will probably dismiss it as they have refused and rejected all such proposals and deals in the past. I do not think anything will be different this time. And with the situation regarding Trump’s Jerusalem declaration, it seems the Palestinian’s have a perfect excuse for saying “no” when the time comes.

Of course, this won’t surprise students of Bible prophecy, as it is apparent from anyone who is watching this situation that the only deal the so-called Palestinians will accept is one that puts them in the position to try to destroy Israel once and for all.

I hope that Trump is able to see this and that any plan offered to the Palestinians will take this in account. I would tend to think that the Jewish U.S. envoy and Trump’s son-in-law would make sure that a bad deal is not offered, but I guess time will tell. It seems you can never know what will happen or be put out there. I think we need to keep a watch out for a new peace deal coming from Trump sometime during the middle of the year, if not before then. The world community seems to be anticipating and holding out that he will make a pitch for the “deal of the century” which could end up being the “dud of the century” instead. Let’s keep watching and see what the new year brings, we are definitely seeing the situation around Jerusalem heating up. All I can say now is to keep watching!

God bless.
