The Rapture Report — Netflix apologizes for “inappropriate” photos promoting the movie “Cuties,” criticized for sexualizing young girls

Netflix is back in the news again after promoting a French film on their platform that many feels sexualizes young girls. Netflix ran photos showing pre-teen girls in twerking dance outfits that many said sexualizes the girls and with the rise of pedophilia in the news it is naturally very concerning to people.

Netflix as we have documented here in The Rapture Report has a history of promoting lifestyles that run counter to conservative values. Whether it is LGBTQ type lifestyles or movies like this one that appears to sexualize young girls, it seems the folks at Netflix are always trying to push the envelope on TV programming. This blatant disregard for children is very disturbing. Parents should not have to worry about whether cartoons or movies are aimed at sexually perverting their children on the Netflix platform.

The CBS News website ran an article about the situation and reports:

Netflix has made changes to the images used to promote a French film called “Cuties” after an online petition urged the streaming service to remove the movie from its platform. The movie, which won a directing award at the Sundance Film Festival, follows an 11-year-old who wants to join a dance crew.

“Amy, through an ignited awareness of her burgeoning femininity, propels the group to enthusiastically embrace an increasingly sensual dance routine, sparking the girls’ hope to twerk their way to stardom at a local dance contest,” the synopsis from Sundance reads. The images used to promote the film, which will premiere on Netflix in September, featured scantily clad young girls vamping for the camera, which many felt were inappropriate.

In a Change.org petition, creator Allison Mitchell called it “disgusting as it sexualizes an ELEVEN year old.”

“There is no need for this kind of content in that age group, especially when sex trafficking and pedophilia are so rampant! There is no excuse, this is dangerous content!” Mitchell writes. The petition has nearly reached its 200,000-signature goal.

In a statement to CBS News on Friday, a Netflix spokesperson said, “We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties,” referring to the film by both its French and English titles. “It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description.” The statement was also shared on the company’s Twitter.

The description on Netflix, which once said Amy was fascinated with a “twerking dance crew,” now says Amy “starts to rebel against her conservative family’s traditions when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance crew.” It appears the promotional image for the film on the streaming platform has been replaced by a solo shot actress Fathia Youssouf, who plays Amy.

With all the possible movie content areas that Netflix and other producers of entertainment could possibly use for their entertainment, it is baffling why promoting sexually deviant LGBTQ lifestyles and sexualizing young girls would seem to be at the top of their list? And the fact that it is not just movie producers, but toy makers, etc. that continue to target our children. Pre-teen children in movies “twerking” for adults is a horrible way to make money.

We need to continue to hold the entertainment industry accountable for their programming choices and speak out when needed.

It is sad that our society has devolved to the point that sexualizing and turning kids into sex objects is the best we can do. Please take time to contact Netflix and let them know that you disapprove of the “Cuties” movie and let your voices be heard. Many are calling for a boycott for Netflix. For many of these entertainment companies, the only thing they listen to is the voices from their pocketbooks, which is why we may have to hit them there with subscription cancellations.

Keep praying for our children as it is apparent that satan has drawn a huge target on their backs. It ‘s just the continues degradation of our society in the end times. Sadly, I do not think it will get any better as we go further through the end times.
