The Rapture Report – 11/19/2017 – Ezekiel 38-39 Allies Meet about Syria
By Chris Schang
In a sign that could possibly be showing how close we are to the future Ezekiel 38-39 conflict, there was a report this week that showed that Russia, Iran, and Turkey will be meeting in the Russian city of Sochi to discuss the situation in Syria. As many of us know, the Russians and Iranians are working hard in Syria to keep Syrian President Assad in power. The Turks, while on the opposite side of the conflict, will also be meeting in Sochi to discuss the situation. I think this development could possibly be significant as it relates to the building of the Ezekiel 38-39 coalition.
The Times of Israel website reported the following:
Russian President Vladimir Putin will next week host Turkish and Iranian counterparts Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani for summit talks on Syria, Turkish state media said Thursday. The three presidents will meet at Putin’s official residence in the Black Sea resort of Sochi for talks on developments in Syria and the region on November 22, the Anadolu news agency said.
The meeting — the first such three-way summit between the trio — comes as Ankara, Moscow and Tehran cooperate with increasing intensity on ending the over six-year civil war in Syria. They are sponsoring peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana and also implementing a plan for de-escalation zones in key flashpoint areas of Syria.
The cooperation comes despite Turkey still officially being on an opposite side of the Syria conflict from Russia and Iran. Russia, along with Iran, is the key backer of Syrian President Bashar Assad and Moscow’s military intervention inside Syria is widely seen as tipping the balance in the conflict.
The meeting of the three leaders of Russia, Iran, and Turkey is very important for students of Bible prophecy. While Russia and Iran are on the same side, the fact is we have been waiting for the right situation to present itself so that Turkey could find a place next to their Ezekiel 38-39 allies. The Times of Israel article went on to further report:
Turkey, however, has backed the rebels seeking Assad’s ouster. But Russia and Turkey have been working together intensely since a 2016 reconciliation deal ended a crisis caused by the shooting down of a Russian war plane over Syria.
In recent months, Turkey has markedly toned down its criticism of the Assad regime and focused on opposing Syrian Kurdish militia seen by Ankara as a terror group.
Turkey earlier this month said Russia had decided to postpone a planned Syria peace conference with all parties after Ankara objected to the potential inclusion of Kurdish forces. Moscow denied this was the case, saying a date for the conference had never been set.
While we will need to wait and see what happens at this meeting, I believe that we could possibly be watching the initial setting up of the Ezekiel 38-39 alliance if the meeting turns out favorable for the three sides. I don’t recall in the past of the three major players in Ezekiel 38-39 ever meeting to discuss and possibly cooperate in the region, especially so close to Israel. While Russia and Iran are joined at the hip by the Iranian nuclear program, the inclusion of Turkey into the mix here is very interesting to say the least.
There was another article that talked more on the meeting between Russia, Iran, and Turkey that came out through the Jerusalem Post that said:
Turkish, Russian and Iranian diplomats will meet in Antalya on Sunday in the run-up to a major get-together in Sochi on November 22. The meeting is supposed to focus on Syria, but its real purpose is part of a larger effort by Moscow to illustrate its influence in the region. Moscow, Turkey and Iran are all sending symbolic messages to Washington that the Americans are out in the cold and the post-ISIS era may well be dictated by regional powers.
I think the analysis by the Jerusalem Post article is very important because it says that Russia, Iran, and Turkey are meeting to pretty much decide how things will work out in Syria and quite possibly in rest of the region. With the U.S. decreasing its role in the region during the Obama years, it is prophetic to see these three countries coming together to work on common “problems” in the region. This is the kind of development that needs to happen for things on the ground to be in place for a fulfillment of the Ezekiel 38-39 scenario.
Of course, I would imagine that Israel is very concerned about the development with Russia, Iran, and Turkey. Iran is the archrival of Israel and Turkey is not much better. Russia is exactly the ally these three needed in order to make their coming ill-fated invasion on Israel as spoken of by the prophet Ezekiel.
The Bible tells us in Ezekiel 38-39 that Gog of Magog will get an evil thought about invading Israel in the last days after they have return from being dispersed from the land. The purpose of the invasion is to take a great “spoil” which Israel could definitely fit the bill given her recently discovered natural resources and great technological ability. This does not even include their status as the ground zero of the three major faiths.
In regards to Ezekiel 38-39, the times in which we live meet the criteria set forth in the prophecy and if we couple this with the fact that the situation in Syria puts these three practically on the border of Israel, then we could be looking at a potential set of the stage for prophetic fulfillment. While it is definitely too early to tell, we should remain in an active state of watching this development in the region. I think as students of Bible prophecy we should remain sober and ever watchful in these end times. As we know from reading Ezekiel 38-39, the “Big three” allies of Russia, Iran, and Turkey will join with others mentioned in the prophecy to try to destroy Israel. I think the next thing to watch for is the inclusion of the other countries mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39 to take their place as it relates to the coming invasion.
As always, keep watching for as we see these things coming, our redemption is drawing nigh!
