The Rapture Report – 09/25/2016 – Russia: We’re ready to mediate Israel-PA talks
By Chris Schang

As many of us know, the United States’ influence in the Middle East has gone downhill since President Barack Hussein Obama took office. Many of us believe that this is not a mere coincidence, but one that was a calculated move by the president. Obama has mentioned many times during his years in office that we needed to change America’s foreign policy. Actually, his entire campaign was about “change” and people on the left bought it “hook, line, and sinker” without ever asking “how” this change was going to take place.

When President Obama took office he immediately went on an “apology” tour of the Middle East and gave a big speech about how America was wrong about Islam. President Obama bowed down to kings and leaders of all of the Middle East countries. This was so pathetic, I saw a cartoon that showed Obama bowing down to any and every one including the “Burger King”. That cartoon was just a sign of how ridiculous things have gotten when it comes to United States foreign policy under Obama. And don’t even get me started about Benghazi, Syria, and Iran.

Today, I came across an article that shows another view of just how far President Obama has failed in the foreign policy department. The Arutz Sheva website is reporting that Russia is now ready to host the Israel and Palestinian talks. For as long as I can remember, the U.S. has been the main player in the talks between our great ally Israel and the so called “Palestinians”. But due to Obama’s lack of a spine and his favoritism towards Islam, it looks like Russia is may try to replace the United States in this vital position in the Middle East. The Arutz sheva article went on to report:

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed on Friday that Moscow is ready to help mediate any talks on the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian Authority (PA) conflict if both sides are willing to compromise, the Sputnik news agency reported.

“We support anything which brings us closer to the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian talks. For this to happen, any initiative must be acceptable to both, and when it is acceptable to both parties, they must agree on what will be the added value,” Lavrov was quoted as having said at a press conference following his address to the UN General Assembly.

“So far, it doesn’t seem that the parties are equally eager to consider it,” he added, “but we are working with both Israel and [the PA].

“We have to resume negotiations anyway, and there might be some meetings between Israeli Prime Minister [Binyamin] Netanyahu and [PA chairman Mahmoud] Abbas that might be helpful,” Lavrov continued.

As we can see here the Russians are “working” with both Israel and the PA to bring them back to the negotiating table. Also, the Arutz Sheva article went on to say further:

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently expressed his willingness to host Netanyahu and Abbas for a meeting to resume peace talks that have been stalled since 2014.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry later said that Netanyahu and Abbas had agreed in principle to such a meeting but stressed that no date had been set for one.

So, when we couple the fact that Russia is trying to make inroads in the Israel and PA situation it is clear that they are trying to become the main players in the region and in doing so they are trying to increase their influence while decreasing ours. They would love nothing more than to see our influence in the region drop substantially.

Another article came to my attention that showed that besides the growing influence in the Israel and PA situation, Russia and its ally Iran are being taken to task for their roles in the devastation of Syria during the civil war that is going on there. The Jerusalem Post is reporting that France is warning Russia and Iran that they could be held responsible for “war crimes” as a result of their actions in Aleppo and the rest of Syria. The Jerusalem Post when on to report:

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said on Sunday Russia and Iran would become accomplices in war crimes if they continued to prolong the war in Syria.

Describing Russia and Iran as supporters of Syrian President Bashar Assad, Ayrault called on them “to take their responsibility by stopping this strategy that leads to a dead-end.”

“Otherwise, Russia and Iran will become accomplices of the war crimes committed in Aleppo,” the minister said in a written statement with reference to the bombings that struck the Syrian city and killed scores of people.

Damascus and its allies including Shi’ite militia from Iran, Iraq and Lebanon have encircled rebel-held areas of Aleppo gradually this year, achieving their long-held objective of fully besieging the area this summer with Russian air support.

These reports seem to follow right along with the prophetic narrative that Russia, Iran, and Turkey will form a confederation that will eventually lead an invasion against Israel form the north. As we see Russia increasing their influence and the United States’ role starting to decrease, I believe we will begin to see more boldness on the part of these three countries that will eventually lead to the Ezekiel 38-39 prophetic fulfillment as foretold by the Bible. In the last Rapture Report, I talked about how Russia was recently for a very short time using Iranian military bases to launch attacks against Syria. It is not hard to see how Russia could go a little further and attack Israel from Iran while allying with the rest of the countries mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39.

While all of this continues to play out and the situation on the ground remains dynamic, I would encourage students of Bible prophecy to keep watching the Middle East, especially Israel as we get further and further in the end times. Those who look at things through the prophetic glasses of the Bible can see that the puzzle pieces are coming together that will eventually lead to the coming 7-year Tribulation period. And if events that lead to the 7-year Tribulation appear to be getting closer, then we know the rapture of the church is even closer as God has not appointed believers in the church age to endure His coming wrath on unbelieving Israel and unrepentant sinners.

With all of that said, let us keep looking up as the blessed hope of the rapture of the church can happen at any time. Amen!

God bless.
