The Party of Contradictions: Feminism vs. Islam
My Mason Beasler
As discussed in the previous blog, the Left has a growing problem on its hands, and few are talking about it.
The Democrats have written a blank check of acceptance to every belief and every way of life in the world, choosing to simply deem everything as acceptable. All is well until two of those “acceptable” belief systems contradict each other.
You see this in the Left’s support of both Feminism and Transgenderism – a combination that led to a lawsuit brought by high school girls after losing in female sporting events to biological boys.
Now what? Does a backer of the Left support the female who’s trying to be competitive in her sport? Or the transgender who is in fact a boy wanting to run against the girls?
The Left’s problem doesn’t stop there. The Feminism movement is bound to collide with yet another belief system that is popular on the Left: Islam.
In a report called “American Muslim Voters and the 2018 Midterm Election,” the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) found that, in 2018, a record 55 Muslims were elected to office in the United States. Of the 16 Muslims elected to legislative office (state or federal, Senate or House of Representatives), 15 were elected as Democrats. This isn’t surprising considering the same study found that 78% of Muslim voters cast votes for Democratic candidates, with 17% supporting Republican candidates.
Back in 2006, Democrat Keith Ellison became the first Muslim elected to Congress, winning Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District. Currently there are three Muslims in Congress, all Democrats.
Obviously, members of the Democratic Party, along with a great many voters on the Democratic side, clearly support the Islamic faith.
All of this is why it’s so surprising that Democrats also claim to support women’s rights, women empowerment, etc.
The Democratic Party put forth half a dozen female presidential candidates this year, a record high. During the last presidential election, a woman went so far as winning the Democratic Primary, although she eventually lost to President Trump in the general election.
Democratic candidates are often very outspoken about their support of women in America.
Elizabeth Warren, one such Democratic candidate, tweeted: “I want every girl to grow up knowing that they can fight from the heart—and that they can win. So when I meet a little girl on the campaign trail, I say: ‘I’m running for president, because that’s what girls do.’”
Amy Klobuchar, another failed presidential candidate from the Left, wrote: “I want every little girl in America and around the world to know that anything is possible.”
Democrats constantly champion the key issues that win them points with female voters, such as the idea of free childcare, closing the wage gap, and securing abortion rights.
The Left supposedly tries as hard as possible to be pro-woman. However, there’s a big problem.
Unfortunately, being pro-woman and pro-Islam is sort of like being pro-sheep and pro-wolf.
They cannot coexist. One clearly takes advantage of the other. The Islamic faith dictates gender inequality, the opposite of what the Left supposedly supports with feminism.
The proof comes straight from the Muslim’s holy book, the Quran. This can’t be explained away with a nod to “those radicals” over in the Middle East. This is what the Quran explicitly states:
Men can beat their wives on grounds of disobedience. “As to those women On whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share beds, (and Last) beat them.” (Quran 4:34)
Women must cover their faces. “O you prophet, say to your wives and to your daughters and the women of the believers, let down their jalabib over them, that in this way they will be known, so they will not be harmed…” (Quran 33:59)
Additionally, the laws and practices of many Muslim nations are completely anti-woman. A woman’s testimony in court is only half as valuable as the testimony of a man. Women often require a male “guardian” to escort them wherever they go outside of the home. That guardian must also consent for the woman before she can participate in a number of freedoms, such as higher education, paid employment, or opening a bank account.
In the world of Islam, women are lesser than, inferior, and treated as children who need to be babysat or dogs that can be beaten into submission.
These practices are barbaric and insulting to women.
For the majority of the world, it is not difficult to see that the Muslim worldview encourages the subjugation and belittlement of women, and therefore it cannot logically be paired with attempts to empower women.
How can the Left pretend their acceptance of those practicing and supporting Islam can logically coexist with the ideas of feminism which supposedly love and empower women?
It appears that only the Left can stoop to that level of delusion.
