Durham Believes FBI Should Have Never Conducted the Trump/Russia Investigation in 2016
But why let them off easy over it?

For the longest time now, I’ve been questioning the actions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Asking why they would be going after Christians over simple comments or, for that matter, parents who exhibit “bad behavior” when discussing sporting events. And don’t even get me started on why they led an “invasion” onto former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

But Special Counsel John Durham just made a very solid point when it came to the way that the FBI operates. The fact they would use what he calls “raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence” for an uncalled-for investigation into Trump over his supposed connections with Russia is absolutely ridiculous.

That’s what Durham revealed from his report, stating that the bureau had no right launching any sort of investigation into the matter during the 2016 election. For that matter, he also noted how they launched what he calls a “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation against Trump, while, at the same time, taking a much different approach to concerns regarding alleged election interference surrounding Hillary Clinton and her campaign.

“We conclude that the (Justice) Department and FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report,” Durham explained in his report. He also noted that “at least on the part of certain personnel intimately involved in the matter,” there was “a predisposition to open an investigation into Trump.”

And now I’m wondering if this investigation somehow led to the FBI surmising that they would find something on Trump with their full-blown run through his Mar-a-Lago estate. Alas, we may never know, which concerns me.

The interesting thing from this is that Durham noted there shouldn’t be any charges against individuals over the report, nor any “wholesale changes” regarding how the FBI takes care of investigations with political ties. I, however, feel different. That’s mainly because of the imbalance of justice here.

As for why Durham doesn’t believe charges should be pressed, your guess is as good as mine. On the one hand, maybe he feels that justice wouldn’t be delivered even if they were charged. But on the other, there’s also the Judiciary Committee, who are continuing to look in on both the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to see if any wrongdoing was done. (Side note – Durham is set to testify in front of the Committee next week, so maybe we’ll get the answers we deserve.)

It just seems like an absolutely ridiculous waste of resources to me. No matter what Trump’s former Attorney General William Barr had to say on the matter, that by no means constitutes any sort of imbalance of justice. If something’s amiss, by all means, look into it. But do it with the same means for everyone. That means treating Clinton or Biden the same way you would with Trump – no political favoring or disdain getting in the way of the investigation. Full stop.

Without that in place, an investigation can never truly be fair. You don’t see police officers picking and choosing who they’re supposed to be nice to. They treat everyone equally. And if they see criminal acts taking place, they don’t turn a blind eye because they’re politically motivated. No, sir, they do their jobs. To save lives. Period.

I’m interested in seeing what answers Durham provides during his testimony next week. Maybe then, we’ll see the Judiciary Committee truly get the traction they need to get the answers on the FBI. They’re not getting them from Wray or Attorney General Merrick Garland. Maybe Durham will provide that missing piece that will allow the agency to get back to the way it’s supposed to deliver justice.

Fingers crossed.
