Did Jesus Approve of Homosexuality?

Did Jesus Approve of Homosexuality?
By David Jolly

A sign of the decay of Christianity in America can be seen by the acceptance of sinful practices and lifestyles. In too many Christian churches, it’s no longer considered wrong for a couple to live together before being married. We have also seen an increase in the number of women ministers (sorry ladies, but Scripture is clear on this issue).

Another sign of the decay of Christianity in America is the acceptance of homosexuality and even the ordination of homosexual ministers (male and female). A large megachurch in Cincinnati is holding a training conference for youth pastors for the purpose of including LGBTQ people. On their website it reads:

“Saddled with expectations from parents, congregation members, denominations, and the leaders who hired them, youth and young adult pastors face a unique challenge in providing effective pastoral care to their LGBTQ+ students. Is it possible to maintain a traditional Biblical view on sexuality, yet remain devoted to the youth in your care who identify as LGBTQ+? Join us for this one-day seminar that will equip you to take practical steps towards loving the LGBTQ+ students in your community with a new boldness, while avoiding common pitfalls that erode relationships, harm your students, and damage those who identify as LGBTQ+.”

‘Presenters will offer a Biblical framework for reconciliation that frees Christians to emulate Christ’s incarnational love without compromising deeply held beliefs on sexuality. Hone your skills and practice strategies for building “treasonous friendships” across deep theological and ideological divides that typically challenge our loyalty to one another. Invite God to guide you towards deeper healing in your closest relationships and gain practical take-home skills and tools to inform your life of ministry.”

“LGBTQ+ Christians will share their personal stories and insights towards answering your toughest questions and challenges in your life of ministry.”

They claim that homosexuality has nothing to do with being a Christian. Their liberal ways have blinded them to what the Bible says and they pick and choose what they want to believe from the Bible and what they want to ignore.

I’ve often pointed out to them that God made it very clear that homosexuality is an abominable sin punishable by death as stated in Leviticus 20:13:

“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

I’ve also pointed out to them that Jesus taught that marriage was one man and one woman, not a man and a man or a woman and woman:

“He answered, ‘Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.’” [Matthew 19:4-6]

Additionally, the Bible is clear on the purpose of marriage and that is to raise godly children:

“Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.” [Malachi 2:15 – emphasis mine]

Many of these same liberal so-called Christians claim that Jesus did away with the laws that God gave Moses. I say that is just their way of excusing their sins. Allow me to share with you what Jesus said about the Law:

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [Matthew 5:17-19]

Jesus fulfilled the Temple Laws but did NOT do away with any of the Law as he stated in the Sermon on the Mount. In fact, He clearly condemns anyone that removes anything from the Law and those that teach others to do the same. In other words, Jesus condemns anyone who teaches that homosexuality is ok. In God’s eyes, homosexuality is still an abominable sin and should not be practiced or tolerated. I know that goes against the liberal tolerances and inclusiveness of today’s depraved society, but man does not have the right to change God’s Word as warned by Jesus in Matthew 5:17-19.

In today’s America, many public schools are teaching children from kindergarten on up through high school that homosexuality is normal and in some instances preferred. I’ve heard of some cases where kids are being taught that homosexuality is something they should explore. When I hear and think about all of the educators teaching these things, I think about what Jesus said in Matthew 18:5-6 and Luke 17:1-2:

“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.”

“And he said to his disciples, ‘Temptations to sin[a] are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.’”

Scripture is clear that Jesus taught openly and condemned all forms of homosexuality. He also condemned those who taught others that it was acceptable.
