Democrats Push for Censorship of Conservative News Outlets
By Tim Wildmon

In a tactic similar to what you might read about in early 1930’s Germany, two United States representatives are applying pressure to cable carriers to censor conservative networks like Fox News and Newsmax by removing them from their line-up.

That’s right, members of the United States government are openly seeking to silence the most basic tenets of the First Amendment: free speech and freedom of the press.

According to Breitbart, Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Jerry McNerney (D-CA), both senior Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, sent letters to numerous cable, satellite, and video streaming companies, asking them if they planned to continue carrying the conservative networks. These two left-wing representatives said Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News Network (OANN) spread “misinformation” primarily because the reporting doesn’t fall in line with their liberal way of thinking.

But the two Republican commissioners of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Brendan Carr and Nathan Simington, aren’t buying the veiled attempts of government censorship by Eshoo and McNerney.

In a statement published on the FCC’s website, Carr said, “By writing letters to the cable providers and other regulated entities that carry these news media outlets, the Democrats are sending a message that is as clear as it is troubling—these regulated entities will pay a price if the targeted newsrooms do not conform to Democrats’ preferred political narratives. This is a chilling transgression of the free speech rights that every media outlet in this country enjoys.”

So far, Comcast, Dish Network, Roku, and Cox Communications have rejected Democrat demands to silence their political opponents. After all, if they ever stop the American right to say what you think, eventually, someone will silence them too.

We must all protect the sacred First Amendment by defending it when government officials try to take it away.

Sign our petition directed to Representatives Eshoo and McNerny, reminding them that the First Amendment guarantees all Americans the freedom of speech, even those they don’t personally agree with.
