AOC Deplores Calling Huge Immigrant Increase at the Border a ‘Surge’
Says such “militaristic” terms reflect “white supremacist idea philosophy.”

Democratic-Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) loves nothing more than pontificating on Instagram concerning a range of issues that she knows little about. The latest example occurred last week during an Instagram Live ask-me-anything session, when AOC took umbrage at the use of the term “surge” to describe the huge influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. “Anyone who’s using the term ‘surge’ around you, consciously, is trying to invoke a militaristic frame,” she said. “And that’s a problem, because this is not a surge, these are children,” AOC added. “And they are not insurgents and we are not being invaded! Which, by the way, is a white supremacist idea philosophy.”

Although AOC has not yet visited the border this time around, AOC told her Instagram audience that there was no border crisis today. “It’s an imperialism crisis, it’s a climate crisis, it’s a trade crisis,” AOC declared. “Also, it’s a carceral crisis,” she added.

During the Trump administration, AOC referred to the migrant detention border facilities as “concentration camps” created by a “fascist” presidency. Yet AOC has not called President Biden’s presidency fascist for detaining unaccompanied migrant minors under conditions that even she recently admitted were “completely inhumane and unacceptable, horrifying.”

AOC doesn’t fault Biden for opening the door to many thousands of illegal immigrants, including unaccompanied minors, with no way to handle the predictably huge influx that followed. That’s because she doesn’t regard any migrants entering the United States as being here illegally in the first place. Instead, AOC blames the immigration system itself and those who resist fundamental change. “It’s a result of the fact that we have built our immigration system on the same scaffolding of our incarceration system, and neither are just,” Ocasio-Cortez said. She also blames U.S. foreign policy. “U.S. foreign policy has contributed to the destabilization of these regions and of the very countries that are mired in a lot of violence that these families and these children are fleeing,” AOC asserted. “All of this is morally wrong. It’s repugnant.”

There is a lot to unpack in AOC’s lunatic claims, starting with her assertion that the term “surge” invokes “a militaristic frame.” That is true only in AOC’s active imagination! The word “surge” is defined by the Cambridge Dictionary as “a sudden and great increase.” By any reasonable measure, that is precisely what is being experienced at the U.S.-Mexico border today. The Biden administration apprehended at least 170,000 migrants at the U.S.-Mexico southwestern border in March alone. That is up nearly 70 percent from February. More than 18,700 unaccompanied minors were detained in March after crossing into the United States. That is almost double the February total. AOC should at least get off her duff and travel down to the border herself to observe first-hand what is happening before shooting her mouth off.

Using AOC’s own peculiar frame of reference with respect to the term “surge,” AOC must have been speaking in “militaristic” terms when she tweeted in 2019: “The only way we change is with a massive surge of *new* voters at the polls.” (Emphasis added) The “massive surge” of “new voters” at the polls must have represented AOC’s vision of battle-ready foot soldiers fighting to change society into her model socialist utopia. Unless, that is, AOC insists on receiving the benefit of the doubt that she was using “surge” in the normal sense of the word but denies extending the benefit of the doubt to those she labels as “white supremacists.”

AOC and her fellow social justice totalitarians view all socioeconomic and political problems in America, including the nation’s current immigration policies, through the lens of critical race theory. They think that ending the rule of evil white supremacists is what it will take to save America. In their world, the white majority in this country is automatically the oppressor class, while Latinos and other people of color are automatically the oppressed minority class.

AOC said earlier this year that taxpayer funds should be used to “deradicalize” those she referred to as white supremacists. “We need to double, triple or quadruple, or increase funding for these deradicalization programs en masse,” she said. This suggestion is coming from someone who has little to show in terms of concrete legislative accomplishments during her time as progressive squad leader in the House of Representatives. But AOC loves to talk a good game.

Presuming to speak for all Latino people, AOC claimed in 2019 that “Latino people are descendants of Native people.” There is no such thing as Latino illegal immigrants, no matter how they entered the United States, according to AOC. That’s because they are “standing on Native land.” AOC added that “we cannot be…criminalized simply for our identity and our status.” AOC didn’t specifically identify the “Native people” she was referring to, but they are believed to have belonged to ancient Mesoamerican cultures.

Aside from AOC’s complete ignorance of history, she seems oblivious to the criminality of the vicious Mexican cartels who engage in the lucrative business of human trafficking that is accelerating the dictionary-defined surge at the U.S.-Mexico border. We saw how cruel these smugglers can be when they were captured on video scaling a 14 ft. border barrier and dropping 2 young children, ages 3 and 5, in a remote part of the New Mexico desert. Border agents rescued the girls, who otherwise would have likely died all alone. But AOC believes that the border agents collectively are the bad hombres. That’s what happens when one wants to create a race-based narrative of oppressors and victims rather than focus on individual responsibility.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson summed things up nicely when he dismissed last week what Ocasio-Cortez had to say about providing reparations to migrants separated under former President Trump’s strict immigration policies. “It’s just interesting to come to a place where a low-IQ race-baiter like that has an important voice in national policy,” Tucker said. “Like, who cares what she thinks?”

Unfortunately, the progressive left base of the Democratic Party hangs on to AOC’s every word. So does Biden, who is caving in to that radical base.
