"You Will Be Known As You Are Known" Confusion

I can't quote the exact scripture but I grew up in church nearly all of my life and I've always heard from other Christians that when we get to Heaven that "we'll be known as we're known".....can someone simply explain what that means or will mean when we get to Heaven?? I'm just a wee bit confused about that statement and have been for a long time. My Mom (who is 69) also wants to know.....

Answers are appreciated.

God bless,

I could be off base, but that sounds like a misquote of 1 Corinthians 13:12 to me. Here's that verse plus a few before and after:

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

I just take it to mean we'll know God in a way it's impossible to do while here on Earth. Also, perhaps we'll understand our part in His plan.

Yes, a misquote. I've heard it quoted that way for years by the host on a radio program on CSN, To Every Man an Answer. But that misquote just repeats the same phrase twice and doesn't mean anything; the verse you quoted is the correct meaning.

Great answers by all.

I often times have a hard time in remembering scripture, but I remember enough of a verse I want to use, so I use google and type in the words I remember, and more times than not, this search will show me the verse Im trying to remember.
There have been times when I only knew a small portion of the verse, but even then, the search engine led me to the right verse. Definitely saves time, thus allowing more bible study time.
