Ya'alon: Hamas Will Understand it Was a Mistake to Attack Israel

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon vows that Israel will continue to inflict damage upon Hamas.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon vowed on Wednesday that Israel will continue its operation in Gaza until Hamas understands that it was a mistake to fire rockets towards Israel.

"Even at this hour, Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Gaza continue to fire missiles and rockets at Israel and try to carry out terror attacks,” he told a graduation ceremony of the National Defense College in the Galilee.

"As of last Monday, IDF forces have been operating by land, by sea and especially by air, and have dealt the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip a serious blow,” added Ya’alon.

The troops, he stressed, “are extracting a very heavy price from Hamas and will continue to do so until quiet is restored to the southern part of the country and other parts of Israel. The Hamas leaders who are hiding underground and use Gaza residents, women and children as human shields should know this.”

With all due respect to Yaalon, a very capable, knowledgeable man, Hamas will not understand it made a mistake, simply because the Moslems live in fairy tale scenarios. Where in the world, and among different people/ethnic groups, do cultures/societies celebrate sheer defeats as victories, as the Moslems do? Maybe a bit in Japan, where they might not celebrate a defeat as victory, but where they might just ignore the fact of defeat. No, Hamas will always follow their own imaginary conquests, though they do win some battles, with their relentless pursuit of world domination. They don't recognize historical realities and don't make mistakes (in their minds).

It's so true they live in an alternate reality! In 1973 an Arab coalition launched an attack on Yisrael in what came to be known as The Yom Kippur War. Egypt was a leader of the coalition along with Syria. Yisrael eventually encircled Egypt's 3rd army and the city of Suez. A ceasefire was imposed in order to prevent hostilities from developing between the US and USSR.

In 2012 Mohamed Morsi celebrated the 39th anniversery of this war, referring to it as "Egypt's victory over Israel".

One of the TV preachers I watch, I can't remember which one, talked on his show about traveling through Egypt by bus and seeing a monument standing all alone in the middle of the desert. He asked the bus driver what it was and was told it was a monument commemorating Egypt's overwhelming victory over Yisrael in October of 1973 (which was the Yom Kippur War). The preacher replied "you didn't win that war". The driver answered "in our minds we did". You can deal with a reasonable person, not with a madman who sees only what they want to see, and insists the rest of the world see the same thing.
