Why Study Prophecy?

Armor of Light

Praising my Savior all the day long!
But the Bible prophecy study book I did do, did something remarkable for me. I used to be fearful of everything going on in the world, and I was especially scared of wars and violence. By the time I read the last page and closed the cover, the fear was gone. Just like that. It's like I have such an internal sense now that God is in complete control of everything happening...and every person and action is being used for His purposes.

Praising my Savior all the day long!
I don't remember being taught anything about the book of Revelation at any church I attended, until I got saved about 40 years ago. One day I decided to read the book and I remember reading the first part of chapter 1 and what it says about the person reading and those hearing would be blessed. I don't remember if I read the entire book or not, but I found it interesting and I felt sorry for those that had to endure that time which was coming in the future. Some years ago maybe about 10-12 years I somehow stumbled onto the old RR site and spent hours upon hours reading and learning, I don't think I ever posted anything for about 3 years or more, If I remember correctly I was not a member , just read the site everyday. I learned about the rapture and end times events and it changed me, I think I was saved 40 years ago but I don't think I had much fruit and my walk was shaky at best, but those years at RR matured me in many ways. Thanks RR and thank you Lord Jesus .

Christian music! I loved watching music videos and one singer...cant remember who, had a video of a Christian who refused to renounce Jesus and he awaited his beheading. I was like, what?! So I read Revelation...then the
YES!! I so remember that video. It was in the 1970s. Maybe it was on TBN or MTV. But I remember the video had an impact on me and knowing what could happen if I didn't renounce Jesus. It was a popular song back then and it was mesmerizing.

I tried looking for the song but it may have been too long ago for any record of it.

If someone else saw that video could you let us know what it was so we can possibly watch it again? It was a good evangelistic video.

Thanks again for bringing the video up. I've often thought of it all these 50 something years. So it had an impact on me for all that time.

@Andiamo

What is the name of the prophecy book that was such a blessing to you?
I just now saw your answer. I thought it was probably Footsteps of the Messiah. I need to do what you did, just read the whole thing front to back.

It took me quite a while. It's so meaty that I could read only small chunks at a time...not even a chapter, but often more like a point or two at a time. I kept a pencil in my hand to underline things and write questions or comments in the margins. I'm not sure I agree with every little thing he said (nor would I with anyone probably) but it was absolutely worth the time and effort. I still refer to it when I read a Bible passage and need a reminder.
I pray you are as blessed as I was from reading it!

Yes!!!!!! That's the one. I was a new Christian and it really impacted my life. I often wondered what I have the strength to stay firm for Christ and face death.

I gather from your response that you can still find it on the web for others to enjoy?

I loved the late 1980s Christian singers...I got saved in 89 so...Ray Boltz, Carman, Keith Green, Russ Taff, etc were popular then.

I found the video on Youtube...

Hopefully we are gone by the time the study is over :pray :pray
The thought of us already being called up by then definitely crossed my mind! My husband and I were volunteers for our Church's VBS program this year. On the last evening, I looked out at all the kids and wondered if this would be the last & the next time seeing these kids all together like this would be our heavenly gathering!

That is such a cool thought!

SaraRose I felt that "butterflies in the stomach" feeling when that thought crossed my mind! We were so happy to see so many children in attendance this year...we prayed the high gas prices wouldn't be a struggle for the families bringing their kids out each night & we ended up with 143 children in attendance!
That must have been such a fun, rewarding experience.

And to the "butterflies" feeling, I'm getting that more frequently these days. Every day we're getting closer. How close? Not sure. But I do hope it is within our lifetimes!

Thank you for your suggestions, DanLMP...I have read a lot of studies and articles written by Jack Kelley & visit the gracethrufaith site often. I don't anticipate the difficulty of understanding Revelation will be what causes our class to take so long to get through it. However, my tendency to get overly excited and hyper-focused on topics that really hold my interest will be the reason we'll need so much more time to get through it lol.

I know there has been a lot of "date-setting" over the years so I don't make it a practice of mine, but seeing all these signs converging so rapidly and intensely, it really feels like it could be sooner rather than later!
