Why Study Prophecy?

But it’s not just so you’ll be better informed about what’s coming. It’s so you’ll feel the urgency to tell your friends about it while there’s still time. Because if you listen carefully, you can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah.

I feel the urgency to learn about prophecy because I have the quickening in in my spirit to know more about what's going to be happening before we're taken home to heaven to be with Jesus.

I find prophecy fascinating and I've been reading articles from various Christian writers that encourage me to learn more. I read the Bible and what it has to say along with commentaries. Each day is like opening a gift to find another gem to hold on to.

My two sisters are Born again believers but not real strong in the knowledge of Rapture and tribulation. One sister tells me not to send her anymore information cuz she doesn't want to hear about it. She has the basic belief that God is going to take care of her and that she's not going to worry about anything.

Another sister just doesn't read anything about what's going on in the world and is very blind to current events and how they are moving into pre-tribulation events.

I don't want to scare her off so I try not to send her too many things that I find interesting and full of blessing for the days to come.

So I pray everyday for enlightenment for my family and children. I just hope I'm not too late. Holy Spirit come and guide my family into truth. Don't let them perish.

After I was born again, I was introduced to Christian music! I loved watching music videos and one singer...cant remember who, had a video of a Christian who refused to renounce Jesus and he awaited his beheading. I was like, what?! So I read Revelation...then the Left Behind series came out, and I loved Christian fiction. Left behind got me thinking...and more on fire for the lost to know Jesus.

When I was a young mom, I saw a Christian tv show that linked Bible prophecy to the news...I was hooked on this kind of thing from then on!

When I read about Esther, and Mordecai told her that perhaps she was born, her purpose, was for such a time as this, I thought...each one of us was born when we were for such a time as this! We are here, in what appears to be Biblical end times, for such a purpose! God knew exactly when each one of us would be born onto this world...in n thru Jesus, we can stand up against the evil of our day, just as Esther did. Maybe you are a prayer warrior, maybe you are a server or street preacher or in the business sector...God wants to use US in these last days to display His love n power thru! It is exciting to me.

Some people get scared, but with Jesus working thru us, knowing our eternity is going to be with our Lord God, and the authority n weapons n armor that God gives us...plus the fact that the battle belongs to the Lord...takes fear away! We are soldiers in our day fighting demonic forces for the souls of people...wow!

I love studying prophesy also because is proves over n over again that Father God does not lie...He is everything He claims to be!! Plus it shows we dont need to fear satan because he himself is a created being, not equal to God, and he does the same stuff thru the centuries.

We could be the last people on earth prior to the rapture...such an awesome concept...

I appreciate RR so much!!

But the Bible prophecy study book I did do, did something remarkable for me. I used to be fearful of everything going on in the world, and I was especially scared of wars and violence. By the time I read the last page and closed the cover, the fear was gone. Just like that. It's like I have such an internal sense now that God is in complete control of everything happening...and every person and action is being used for His purposes.

I don't remember being taught anything about the book of Revelation at any church I attended, until I got saved about 40 years ago. One day I decided to read the book and I remember reading the first part of chapter 1 and what it says about the person reading and those hearing would be blessed. I don't remember if I read the entire book or not, but I found it interesting and I felt sorry for those that had to endure that time which was coming in the future. Some years ago maybe about 10-12 years I somehow stumbled onto the old RR site and spent hours upon hours reading and learning, I don't think I ever posted anything for about 3 years or more, If I remember correctly I was not a member , just read the site everyday. I learned about the rapture and end times events and it changed me, I think I was saved 40 years ago but I don't think I had much fruit and my walk was shaky at best, but those years at RR matured me in many ways. Thanks RR and thank you Lord Jesus .

YES!! I so remember that video. It was in the 1970s. Maybe it was on TBN or MTV. But I remember the video had an impact on me and knowing what could happen if I didn't renounce Jesus. It was a popular song back then and it was mesmerizing.

I tried looking for the song but it may have been too long ago for any record of it.

If someone else saw that video could you let us know what it was so we can possibly watch it again? It was a good evangelistic video.

Thanks again for bringing the video up. I've often thought of it all these 50 something years. So it had an impact on me for all that time.

@Andiamo

What is the name of the prophecy book that was such a blessing to you?
I just now saw your answer. I thought it was probably Footsteps of the Messiah. I need to do what you did, just read the whole thing front to back.

It took me quite a while. It's so meaty that I could read only small chunks at a time...not even a chapter, but often more like a point or two at a time. I kept a pencil in my hand to underline things and write questions or comments in the margins. I'm not sure I agree with every little thing he said (nor would I with anyone probably) but it was absolutely worth the time and effort. I still refer to it when I read a Bible passage and need a reminder.
I pray you are as blessed as I was from reading it!

Yes!!!!!! That's the one. I was a new Christian and it really impacted my life. I often wondered what I have the strength to stay firm for Christ and face death.

I gather from your response that you can still find it on the web for others to enjoy?

I loved the late 1980s Christian singers...I got saved in 89 so...Ray Boltz, Carman, Keith Green, Russ Taff, etc were popular then.

I found the video on Youtube...

Hopefully we are gone by the time the study is over :pray :pray
The thought of us already being called up by then definitely crossed my mind! My husband and I were volunteers for our Church's VBS program this year. On the last evening, I looked out at all the kids and wondered if this would be the last & the next time seeing these kids all together like this would be our heavenly gathering!

That is such a cool thought!

SaraRose I felt that "butterflies in the stomach" feeling when that thought crossed my mind! We were so happy to see so many children in attendance this year...we prayed the high gas prices wouldn't be a struggle for the families bringing their kids out each night & we ended up with 143 children in attendance!
That must have been such a fun, rewarding experience.

And to the "butterflies" feeling, I'm getting that more frequently these days. Every day we're getting closer. How close? Not sure. But I do hope it is within our lifetimes!
