Who do we meet first?

Great question, and we may have some hints from Scripture. I believe in the account of Lazarus and the rich man, Jesus mentioned that angels took Lazarus to Abraham's bosom. And from the cross, Jesus told one of the thieves hung with Him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in paradise." We know from Jesus' words that there are likely millions - if not billions - of angels, and perhaps we believers have at least one that will immediately accompany us into the presence of the Lord. Either way, you will see the Face of Jesus and the Father as well, told to us in Revelation when God creates the new heavens and earth for our eternal dwelling with Him.

under His wings - Psalm 91:4
Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night from a nightmare, I think about heaven and what it might look like and what it might feel like to see Jesus. It is a good thing we will have a glorified body, because a human body might explode from pure joy. I can't really imagine much besides seeing Jesus with open arms, smiling at me. I don't know if I would hug his feet, or cry, or hug him.

It blows me away to think that Jesus calls me His reward! This always makes me think of him pacing back and forth just waiting for the command to come and get us! There will be so many that arrive at the same time that I cannot fathom in my human mind how all this will work. I don't picture being herded through lines as we are assigned our mansions. That seems too worldly. I don't know what to expect, but it is on my mind constantly now, and I am glad to see that many of you have the same thoughts and ponderings. Hopefully, we won't have to wonder for too much longer because our faith will be our sight!

That is an interesting thought! :) I know for sure there have been angels keeping me from harm during a lot of my farm days (almost getting kicked in the head by a horse when I was little) and smashing into a tree when zooming down a hill on a sled, not to mention all those times I had a weird feeling at an intersection and didn't go with the green light only to see a car speed through the intersection (I would have gotten t-boned), plus the angel in Australia that protected me at the tram stop at 11pm. I wonder if it was the same angel or different ones.

I've no idea but my speculation is that an angel or two who have helped watch over us during our lives will have the honor of gently helping us make sense of the change that has occurred and the honor of escorting us to Jesus.

I like to think our dead loved ones (relatives or not) are offered the opportunity to be there as we are escorted to heaven. I’ve heard of examples of dying believers talking with dead loved ones they see in their rooms. Maybe it’s just hallucinations though.

Angels. My Oma passed away in the early 60s at home. Some of the family was in her room . Oma opened her eyes and there was this look of awe on her face as she looked around the room towards where the wall meets the ceiling. She said “Angels. The room is full of angels. They are so beautiful”. She closed hers eyes and went Home.
