Where do you want to live

If you could move anywhere, where would you want to live and why there?

Im not sure I can even answer my own question. We are still considering a move, with NC being a possibility. Our current home in Oregon has the best possible weather for my wife, but the crazies are getting even crazier in some areas of this beautiful state. If our daughter didn’t depend on us so much for helping raise our 9 year old granddaughter, there is a high possibility we would sell our house, store our furniture, and travel the states for a few years in a motorhome.

I can relate...things are not great in Olympia. But all of our family is here...

I don't know where I'd want to move either, specifically. A conservative area would be nice, and I'd like more space between us and our neighbors. I'd prefer somewhere warmer and less rainy than here.

I'd live in Cheyenne WY or a yet to be decided location in Georgia. Cheyenne for the low population, the climate, and the VA regional hospital they have there and the somewhat reasonable taxing structure. Georgia for the cost of living, tax structure, and southern culture/food.

Since I can live where I want to I'm on my way to Cheyenne.

I'm planted rather firmly. 5 granddaughters up the highway a couple of hours from us with daughter and son in law, then our son and daughter in law live just up the hill from us 5 minutes away. I love our weather except forest fire season also known as summer elsewhere and our apartment condo is just right sized for us at this stage of life. The older I get the happier I am being planted right here.

I live on the confluence of 2 main interior rivers just up stream of the Fraser River. Within a few hours in any direction there are lakes, mountains, ski hills, hiking trails galore. It's ranching country and rolling desert grasslands with Ponderosa pines and little tiny button cactus that reach out and grab the unwary along with ticks and rattlers. It's hot and dry in the summer and cold and dry in the winter which is great for George's joints. I'm not troubled by arthritis for the most part. If we go south and east we can go to natural hot springs in the Rockies.

I really feel blessed. Other than Trudeau and our provincial govt which are leftist loons of the first order and our city govt which seems to have gone green in the worst way. Those are the flies in the ointment. Oh and health care. Contrary to propaganda, Canadian health care is one looooong line up, fingers crossed you survive till you get treatment. Most people in our city don't have a primary care dr. George and I are blessed, we do and we are very very thankful for him. He takes care of the whole family including the granddaughters.

I think my wife and I will be full-time or at least most of the time RV living after we retire. But the way things are going we may never get to retire. Until then we’re still in NC. I’ve spent most of my life here so naturally I’m a little biased. The state is growing with all of the influx of people. I’m sure we’ll have a home base somewhere after retirement even while we’re out in the RV. Not sure where that will be yet though.

I would choose a state that is conservative. The only problem with that is the state could be flipped at a later time. I am blessed to be living in Florida with Gov DeSantis but who knows how long we will be conservative. So many people have moved to Florida in the past decade and it is quite crowded now. I was born in Florida and when I was a kid you could drive for miles along the beach road and see a motel or gas station every now and then. Today the beach is littered with high rise condos. Until we are Raptured by Jesus there is no place that is perfect.

I can’t wait to live in heaven. No taxes, no politician, no dentists or doctors needed. No diets. No sickness or death or seeing children sick or hurt. One of the greatest things is our old sin natures will be forever gone. Oh yeah I want to live in heaven and I’ve made my reservation thru the One who paid it all.

Longing for Home
I enjoy our midwestern state of Missouri. Climate is ideal, and we enjoy the people.
We helped raise three of our now grown grandchildren here at this farm, and there's a lot of mighty sweet memories here.
Like others have already stated, heaven is my preferred Home, but for now, I am content with where we live and don't plan to make another geographical move. I'd be leaving behind too much that I love right here.

A lot of our night skies are cloudy and you can’t see the stars beyond what I call “the cage.” But on a good clear night, I love looking up at the stars and thinking about how awesome God is and hoping He’ll call us up soon. It’s humbling looking at those stars. Makes me, and all my grumbling, feel very small

We hope to relocate to the Greenville, SC area in a couple of years, probably not until DH retires, although he works from home so we could go now. We already have one son there and the other one hopes to move there too, plus it‘s closer to my mom In north GA. It‘s a nice little city with everything we need and in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mtns. :thumbsup

Yes, RV life is adventurous and fun, always meeting new people. We previously owned 2 fifth wheel RVs, and completed a few 6000 mile trips, and one time, we lived in it for 4 months. We have recently been looking at a few smaller motorhomes, but the time is not right for now. We eventually want one no bigger than 32 feet so we can take it to any national park, and not worry about being to big to fit in.

I'd love to live back on the Panhandle of FL, ...I think.... but as @fl2007rn noted, it's probably not what I remember. We used to be able to park almost anywhere along the beach highway and cross the dunes to fish and swim, I'm sure they've put a stop to that by now. As long as all the water access was not blocked up tho, I'd be fine.

We live in the Charleston lowcountry area. It’s getting more crowded and liberal here every day. Our lot is tiny and the summer humidity is oppressive. We’d LOVE to move to the upstate- Pickens/Anderson/Greenville area, get a bit of acreage, and a nice, smaller one story home. We’ve also looked into Oklahoma, because they get all 4 seasons and land is relatively cheap. Northern GA or AL would be ok too (my husband is from GA and I’m from AL originally). We’d prefer to stay in the south, or a few select midwestern states. He does love Arizona, as he was stationed there once with the Air Force, but the lack of water and ability to grow our own food is not what we are looking for.

I like living in SC. My area is still fairly conservative. The heat is horrible but I can't stand the idea of living where winters would be any colder than they are here.
I like staying home and spending untold hours in my flower beds.
I also love Louisiana...the people and the food.
