Whats your plans for the day?

On vacay the rest of this week so hubby and I played golf today for his birthday. Was great weather, were not bothered too much from the Canadian smoke haze. Very nice day.
Have a wonderful time away from work! Sorry about the haze coming from us. Apparently back east is getting it bad right now, only a few spots in my province but the temps are climbing (summer is here) and the hazard is rising with.

Today I go in for a breathing test. My new doctor wants to find out how bad my emphysema is.
Praying for you Carl!

Well we had a nice visit on Sunday from one of our nieces, and various lab and dr visits so it's been busy.

My muscles aren't improving so I went to the dr today to see about a rx for an electric scooter and a Rollator walker, both of which he agreed to, along with a handicap sticker. I have feeling back, and my eyesight is fine again, just the muscles are still really weak and wobbly but I can get from our car into the lab or dr and do a little housework, so it's not all that bad. I just don't want to be stuck without these things for the next go round.

Regards the Rx for the "mobility devices"-- in Canada if I get the Rx then there is a chance that our extended health insurance will cover part of the cost and the govt won't charge tax on it plus the part we pay can then be claimed on income tax. If not, then we are on the hook for the whole eyepopping amount for both.

After that I got in for a pedicure with hot pink shimmer polish.

And I'm doing an easy dinner that I prepped long before I left home. Broccoli and Hot Wings. Some leftover potato salad. Non alcohol beer for George. Diet Coke for me.

Curt Gowdy was a great broadcaster.

I ran trails years ago, but avoid them now. One reason, I dont like to drive for a place to run. Also, when tired and legs feeling heavy, trail running made me susceptible to tripping on roots, rocks, holes….etc. About 99.9 percent of all my runs for the past 20 years have been on back streets throughout the neighborhoods I have lived in. Im running before most are even awake, so traffic is never an issue. Hard streets are definitely harder on the joints over trails, but my body really knows no other way. Neighborhood running can be boring, but trails offer great scenery on the run.

I keep it simple. I never run with headphones or earbuds, and boring does not bother me as I will finish the run regardless.

Most of my runs here are either on the outskirts of town on asphalt or on what's called the "greenway" which is trails around town that are finished with concrete. It takes about a half hour to get to Curt Gowdy. I'd like to go there once a week for a special treat but I probably won't go that often because it's so much easier to just step outside the house and start running.

Praising my Savior all the day long!
As usual had a busy day, 7am mowing and trimming, turned sprinklers on and went to a couple stores, back by 9am, been working on prepping front and rear bumpers on the truck for paint, done painting by 11:30 and went inside to cool off and have some lunch, a turkey with mayo sandwich and leftover long grain/wild rice, cleaned and refilled the Hummingbird feeders, sat in the recliner for a while and read a little RF, then started prepping for dinner. Almost bed time now, a good nights sleep and I'll be ready to go in the morning, maybe some early morning fishing as it's too hot during the days now, maybe a light easy day tomorrow.

Pray so they do not serve alone. Ephesians 6:10-20
Went to one of the close-by grocery stores, took Dad to church and fellowship after, then for his walk, then for a haircut, and then to look at lift-assist chairs (one of the medical supply places is in the same strip mall as the hair cut place).

No :cloud9 again, except when I fell asleep for a few minutes while waiting for dinner to cook.

Can't go to bed until after Dad goes, otherwise he gets really upset and deliberately wakes me up :mad If I don't sit in the living room with him while he's watching TV in the evenings, he gets upset and yells. If I never see another B&W movie, talking heads, etc., again, it'll be too soon.

Did dishes and laun-dirty last night after Dad went to bed, then got a couple hours of :cloud9
Got up and took care of the dog and plants, dealt with some phone calls :frust then got a couple hours :cloud9
Now at the enclosed strip mall while Dad takes his walk.

When we get home, hopefully I can get a few more hours :cloud9 while Dad makes lunch for himself and practices his :violin

Was at the lake by 5:45 am and had a fun 90 minutes then it sprinkled for a while then the clouds drew darker and I headed for home. The rain fizzled out before I got home, so put all the gear away, gave the front and back lawn a granular treatment of iron and other minerals(suppose to rain next 3 days) mowed a 15x12' strip in the back that I somehow missed yesterday:rolleyes: then trimmed a large 7' tall and 10' diameter scrub bush to the ground that keeps invading our property and sending vines climbing everywhere if it gets out of control. In a couple days after the rain has passed the remaining scrub brush will get a lethal dose of Tree/brush killer. The property where the bush is has a large shed that collapsed last year and the house is vacant, soon the place will be overgrown with weeds and vines. Went to the store to get some hot dog buns, dogs for dinner tonight, now just resting/waiting for DW to get home, she'll probably arrive in about 45 minutes. Very nice day today only 78* right now and overcast, much better than the low 90's we been having.

It's raining cats and dogs and small hail at the moment. I've only run the irrigation system maybe 3 times this year. The locals tell me that they're getting more rain that usual. They said last winter was colder and longer than usual, and that last summer was hotter than they usually see. I guess we've seen the extremes that can happen here, already. I went running locally today, took my wife to a doctor's appt, got a long nap in, and changed a sediment filter that's downstairs. I don't have too many more maintenance things on the list. I should inspect the roof, clean the rain gutters and there's a place while I'm up on the roof that can use a little touchup paint. Other than that, there's just not much else I can think of. Life is a little easier for me here.

Thank you! Yesterday was not bad where we were in PA, but it's really bad today in MD.
Praying for all of you caught in that smoke. I know very well how bad and how long it can go on, and the permanent damage to people's lungs. Another reason I think we are getting close to the Rapture. This is beyond "normal" -- it's like one of Pete Garcia's recent articles, Running Out of Normal.

I had to cancel my hair dresser appt for a hair cut this morning. Can't manage her stairs today. Hopefully next week. She's the one I talk about that I witness to and pray for her salvation. Last visit was 6 weeks ago, just before this MS thing blew up. I thought it was one of the best visits we'd ever had, and I was able to really share the gospel. I wonder if that made the enemy mad? :lol

Meanwhile one sows, another reaps, but God gives the increase

I Cor 3: 6-9 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

John 4: 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

My son has never dealt well with periods of time when he can't see his dad very much. He loves routine and my husband has shift work that changes every week so it can be upsetting for him. The weeks my husband is on the 12 hour day shift the kids only get to see him at bed time and I have to keep them up a little later for even that to happen. So that was this week so I decided ahead of time I would "go easy" on both of them and let them have more screen time and not push them to read as much or play piano, that sort of thing. My daughter got a DVD of the Little Rascals from my mom for her birthday so we've been watching through that. We're all a little disappointed that is only has two episodes with Spanky and Alfalfa. The rest are funny and my daughter laughs heartily at them but Spanky and Alfalfa are everyone's favourites. A good number of the episodes are from the silent film era but my kids surprisingly enjoy those ones too. Though, my son didn't have the patience to sit through a second in a row. I found there is a collection on iTunes that is largely just episodes with Alfalfa and Spanky so I may have to invest in those. I just need to get an adaptor to hook up the iPad to the TV so we can watch it on the larger screen.

I'm having a lazy week with the kids too though I got a few things done. Finally re-sealed my extra tank and hopefully, it will be ready to have water put in for testing by tomorrow afternoon/evening. It was still had a distinct vinegar smell when I checked on it at the 24 hour mark this evening. That stuff REEKS when it's fresh. Like really, really, really strong salt and vinegar chips. Makes you see double. The last tank I did was much larger so I had to stick my head right in there.

I also started sorting my kids' homeschool stuff from this past year. I have a portfolio to keep the highlights, a scrap pile for them to use to draw on and write stories, and then the BURN pile. Burn, baby, burn! I've gone through every folder with pages that can be used for scrap and my son's books have all been gone through. I just have to go through my daughter's note and student books. Part of me hates ripping stuff apart and not keeping all the pages I print out but it's silly to keep them all. I favour anything that required creativity like poems, short stories and opinion pieces. For math, I figure if someone comes to check on us I can just show them the book they are currently working on. If they can do that they clearly were taught the easier stuff before. I also save all of my planning notebooks. I'm not a Type A person so a lot of homeschool moms would probably faint at how basic my planners are but they still list every class & basic description. If I change something on the fly I note it down in red ink.

Finished sorting my daughter's homeschool work. I tested out the new seal of my tank and it seems to be holding. I will make the final assessment tomorrow morning. I have seen that you may want to test it for a week but my tank is quite small so I don't think it will be a big deal. I am using it as a quarantine tank because I want to add a new fish to my main display tank. I want to be able to get it out of quarantine before our road trip at the end of the month so that means I need to get the fish tomorrow. 3 weeks isn't really a long-enough quarantine but it will have to do (unless it shows signs of illness before then and I will have to leave it there). I have back ups/extra of the supplies I need so that isn't a problem. I had bought a fish to go in the main tank but it decided to attack all the other fish once I added it so it is living in my first quarantine tank permanently. I love my betta Spanky so I can't rehome him. I already know my new fish is going to be named Alfalfa even though it will be a different species.

A lovely hummingbird sat on the tree outside our window for about 10 to 15 minutes. It was curled into a tight, little ball and almost looked chunky for it's petite size. I had never seen one sit so still in my life. But of course, when I went to grab the phone it began to fly around and feed at the feeder. I'm a terrible photographer so the pictures were quite blurry.

More work expanding garden and we have our granddaughter this weekend so ample play. Next week is the official start of summer but temps are now hitting 90 consistently so my outdoor work ends by noon. I started planning our fall home Bible study for Sept. start. This year we're going through a book called 'Tactics' by Greg Koukl about ways to share your faith. I plan on adding some common objections and wrong beliefs and some suggestions on how to counter them or as Koukl says, to 'put a theological pebble in their shoe.' Then, as always, napping and reading.
