What We Can't Not Know

Just reading in Psalms this morning and came upon two references that seem to say the same thing as that phrase in Revelation but in different words. Not just speaking of humans, of all men living on this globe, but the godless.

Psalm 10:18
To vindicate the orphan and the oppressed,
So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.

Psalm 17:13-14
Arise, O Lord, confront him, bring him low;
Deliver my soul from the wicked with your sword,
From men, with your hand, O Lord,
From men of the world, whose portion is in this life...
That final sentence - people who get their "portion in this life"... what an awful eternity. They only recieve any good things now, and in a few short, miserable years, the good things are spent and gone, never to be received again. I just think on how horrible this life is and yet this is as close to Heaven as most people will ever know, and that's just sad.

It's kind of off topic, but I've been pondering the desperate focus unbelievers have on this life, and how sad it is that all their striving and grasping and frantic effort produces nothing. How, in a few short years they and their greatest achievements are forgotten.

Thank you God for rescuing me from the dustbin!
