Martha- I’m a worrier and always rushing around.

Moses- a public speaker I am NOT!! It truly terrifies me. I’d honestly rather sing in front of a group than speak. Weird I know.

David- I’ve struggled with lust in the past, and committed adultery (via text). The Lord is merciful though, and I have a very strong marriage today. I know He has forgiven, but I still feel shame about it. I know shame is from the enemy, and I need to trust that I’m truly forgiven. It’s a work in progress. Also, I love to sing. I’m in choir at church (have been in choirs since I was a child). Music is my thing. In eternity, I hope to sing in David’s choir.

Ghoti Ichthus

Pray so they do not serve alone. Ephesians 6:10-20
One of the myriad unnamed lepers. I don't even have to shout "unclean" to drive people away or for them to not give me a chance or listen to me. I've always been unpopular disliked, and ignored.

While in the Army and later LE while on duty, the Centurion, who crucified Jesus. The Soldier in me.

Not around here. Your RF family enjoys your posts and respects what you contribute to the many discussions here.
@Ghoti Ichthus I'm quoting my own post, because I forgot to add something. A year or so, you recommended Vietnamese cinnamon instead of the type I mentioned in one of my posts on food. I've never forgotten your suggestion, so awhile back, I decided to order some Vietnamese cinnamon. You were so right! Now I love recipes that call for cinnamon so that I can use this. Thank you for helping me to understand there really is a difference in the kinds of cinnamon. I never knew that before :hehee

You know, I have often heard of a prostitute...?Martha?? But I haven't read it in the scripture.
Where does that come from??
  1. In Luke 7:36-38, 44-50, a woman wet Jesus’ feet with her tears, wiped them with her hair and anointed them with ointment from an alabaster flask. She is described as a “woman in the city, which was a sinner."
  2. In John 12:1-11, Mary of Bethany, the sister of Martha and Lazarus, anointed Jesus’ feet with ointment of spikenard. Judas Iscariot complained about the waste.
  3. In Matthew 26:6-13 and Mark 14:3-9, an unnamed woman anointed Jesus in the house of Simon the leper in the town of Bethany. She anointed Jesus’ head with very expensive ointment of spikenard from an alabaster flask. All of Jesus’ disciples complained about the waste, prompting Jesus to defend her action, describing it as a beautiful thing done to anoint him for burial.
Before Jesus' death His feet and head were anointed by a sinner, a friend and a stranger. There are many other correlations to make, but this is the one that stands out to me. Alabaster boxes were simply the vessel within which the costly ointments, salves and perfumes were stored. Hence, there was more than one instance (1 and 3) of anointing with something that came from an alabaster box. The spikenard Mary of Bethany used likely came from an alabaster box/flask, even though it is not stated what vessel she took it from.

Paul. I aim high and I don't want to fall short. I buffet [discipline] my body. I know I will meet Jesus face-to-face one day and I don't want to be ashamed over having squandered my gifts or wasted my time, and I have done both. I am not perfect, but Jesus is and I aim to finish my course, like Paul did, like Jesus did. Paul aimed to be conformed to the image of Jesus in life and death and so do I, by the power of the Holy Spirit in me. "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Sound lofty? I aim high. Jesus "as He is" is at the end of this race, so for the joy set before me I endure my cross, like He did. HE is my JOY and who I live for. There is also a great cloud of witnesses who have shown what things can be done by faith, and their sufferings and victories are so helpful to remember. We can do this!

"But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:7-12
