US President Joe Biden said on Friday he has decided to run for a second term and would formally announce his re-election campaign "relatively soon."

"We'll announce it relatively soon. But the trip here just reinforced my sense of optimism about what can be done," Biden told reporters at the tail-end of an emotional trip to Ireland. "I told you my plan is to run again."

Biden has long said he intended to run for re-election but the lack of a formal announcement has sometimes given jitters to supporters unsure if the 80-year-old Democrat, one of the oldest world leaders, would really commit to another four-year term.

I’m inclined to say “bingo” that God’s will may be a second Biden term or barring that someone who will continue his destructive governance as a judgment upon America. We were richly blessed in our founding and our sending missionaries the world over to spread the Gospel and to help ensure Israel became a nation but we’ve been on a downward trajectory for the last 60 years. God had mercy on us twice in my view and that was the elections of Reagan and Trump. I’ve always maintained that we started going down the toilet with the removal of prayer and Bible reading from school and the assassination of JFK. Things got increasingly worse from then on. And here we are: a mere shell of the country we used to be.
