The US House of Representatives committee probing the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by Donald Trump supporters voted on Thursday to subpoena the former president, a move that could lead to criminal charges if he does not comply. The House select committee's seven Democratic and two Republican members voted 9-0 in favor of issuing a subpoena for Trump to provide documents and testimony under oath in connection with the Jan. 6 attack.

"He must be accountable. He is required to answer for his actions. He is required to answer for those police officers who put their lives and bodies on the line to defend our democracy. He is required to answer to those millions of Americans whose votes he wanted to throw out as part of his scheme to remain in power," the panel's Democratic chairman, Representative Bennie Thompson, said. Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This will probably not be enough to save the midterm election for them. Trump and his team will probably use legal means to delay an appearance until after the midterms at which point an appearance might not by required from a committee that will no longer exist.

True. But if he shows up to testify it will be something to observe — basically I think he will bring the fireworks and center them primarily on Cheney and Kinzinger. He would expect the usual garbage from Thompson, Rankin and Schiff et. al. Which is why I think he will blow the two nominal Republicans out of the water. This committee would do well to remember the old adage: “be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.”

I know it's not in Mr. Trump's nature, but I wonder what would happen if he showed up and then served every question with "I plead the 5th", or "I don't Recall", or maybe go on an unrelated story about this or that. I think that would just drive those lefties absolutely crazy, then Aunty Pelosi makes her appearance to Punch him out.:poke

Say something Righteous and Wholesome...
The stinging question I have, is WHERE WAS THE NATIONAL GUARD?

A mass of angry people at THE CAPITOL, regardless who prodded who, and they left it in the hands of the capitol police?

WHO was supposed to make the phone call?

It seems to me someone wanted this to happen.

I probably missed the answer to these questions, but no one seems to care in D.C.
It's just Get Trump! The Miniseries.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Demonrats voted to subpoena President Trump on the same day that it came out inflation had hit 8.2% in September. They're always trying to get people's attention off of the horrible way they're destroying the economy and the country and onto something that's only important to them. Other than the few lunatic, hardcore Communist Demonrats, most people don't care about Jan. 6th. What they do care about is skyrocketing inflation, gas prices, food prices, energy prices, and keeping a roof over their heads. You know, everything the Demonrats couldn't care less about because it doesn't affect them and their equally wealthy supporters.

Does anyone remember when Oliver North testified in Congress about the Iran Contra affair? The left thought they had a slam dunk case to implicate and discredit Reagan, but that is not how it all went down. North made a compelling case in his own favor and walked out of the hearings a hero to many Americans; Reagan came out of the whole episode pretty much unscathed. Justified or not, North outmaneuvered the Democrats and left them humiliated. The Democrats and never Trumpers are risking a repeat of history. Trump is a wily old fox who just may prove to be a bit more than they can handle.
