The Shin Bet on Wednesday arrested two Israeli citizens for the theft of tens of thousands of bullets, less than 24 hours after the ammunition was stolen from the IDF's Tze'elim base in southern Israel on Tuesday. According to a military source cited by Walla, the suspects were able to enter the base and went to a bunker that housed ammunition before stealing tens of thousands of 5.56 mm rifle bullets. The exact number of bullets stolen is currently unknown, but it is estimated to be around 26,000 in total, Shin Bet said.

Interesting.

3 things struck me reading this article.

1: they didn't name the "Israelis" caught in this bust. Israel is struggling with the politically correct leftists controlling the narrative in the media, including JPost, and their original source Walla. Perhaps these are Arab Israelis who have a habit of voting for terrorist backed Arab politicians who want to dismantle the state of Israel. Although the leftist factions in Israel have also shown a distinct preference to attack their own land and people.

2: this is part of a larger crime wave, stealing ammo, selling it to nearby buyers who then resell it, in some cases landing in the Palestinian area known as the West Bank aka Judea and Samaria. This is a hot bed for anti Israel terrorism.

""The IDF has become a permanent theft center for them," the source told Walla. "The bullets get sold throughout the country and some wind up in the West Bank."

3: most of the crime wave like this one, seems to be happening in the Negev, the south, where Saudi Arab tribes live and influence the area. They are not fans of Israel even though they benefit from being part of it.

"The IDF has for years struggled with weapons being stolen from bases across the country, mainly in the Negev. Many of the weapons stolen in recent years were taken by soldiers along with civilian contractors who worked on the bases, who not only had access to bases but knew where the weapons were stored."

Since the IDF has many Arab Israelis serving, this would be a point of weakness that the theft rings could exploit, and being politically correct, and bending over backwards to accomodate Arab Israelis, the Army would open itself to accusations of racism if they profile their service members and keep the Arabs in less sensitive positions.

Difficult situation.
