Won't Be Long Now!
There is a new date going around as to when the rapture is supposed to happen. Some Christians state the date is correct, others state that the date is false and still others want to believe the date, but are afraid they are going against the bible which states that no one knows the day or the hour.
Here is my take, though no one asked me. LOL!
While I do think it is wrong to tell others of a date for the rapture, whether it's OK for you personally to believe a date or not depends on if you are hopeful or dependent on that date being correct. So to make sense, I must explain what I mean by hopeful verses dependent. If you are just hopeful about something and it does not happen you may be a little disappointed, but it does not really affect you. If you are dependent on something happening, you will have a change in your attitude if it does not come to pass.
Here is a somewhat silly example of me being dependent on something that I should have been hopeful about. I always loved Muhammad Ali as a boxer when I was growing up and still today right or wrong believe he is the greatest boxer I have ever seen. When I was in high school he was making his comeback from being barred from boxing because he would not submit to the draft. So after winning some fights, he was able to go for the championship against Joe Frazier. Well back at this time there was still a lot of tension between blacks and whites and Ali took advantage of it saying that Frazier was an Uncle Tom and Ali was the champion of the black race. So many blacks fell for this including myself.
So the days before the fight most blacks (maybe all) in my school, were rooting for Ali and most whites were rooting for Frazier. I of course was rooting for Ali. So there were a lot of whites bragging about how Frazier was going to kick Ali's butt and a lot of blacks (including me) bragging about how Ali was going to kick Frazier's butt. Well as history will attest, Frazier won the fight. I was just so upset that night. I was really angry and looking for some excuse as to why Ali lost. I was still upset the next morning and on my way to school I was thinking about how the whites supporting Frazier would rub it in.
Well I am not a fighter and usually don't understand why some people actually like to fight. However, I now had a feeling that was new to me, I was so upset and angry that I actually wanted to fight someone. I thought to myself, bet... I just hope some white guy with a big smile on their face tells me that Frazier kicked Ali's butt! I was ready to wipe that smile off their face, assuming they were not some big burly guy. LOL!!! Fortunately no white guys said anything. I think they knew by our expressions that it would instantly cause a fight. In any case, I thought I was just hoping that Ali would win, but in reality I was dependent on him wining. When he did not win, my attitude changed and I became very angry.
So I will say again, in my opinion there is no problem hoping for a rapture date that you here about, just be sure you are only hoping not depending on the date being correct!
