The Meaning of Easter

I recently stayed at a guest ranch in western Oklahoma, and one night I was talking with a fellow who was one of the owners about a sign I saw up the highway from them that said, "Easter Pageant." (I wondered why it was there in September) But I mentioned it to him. And I took the opportunity to tell him what Easter meant to me. It meant that Christ died for all my sins, was buried, and rose from the dead all to take away all my sins and give me eternal life. Apparently he was already saved and agreed with me whole heartedly. He also told me he had played roles before in the Easter Pageant play.
I bring this up because explaining true meaning of Easter can be a good way of witnessing to people the gospel of our salvation. All too often people can have a vague or wrong understanding and not understand and believe the finished and completed work of our salvation that Christ has already accomplished for us by his death and resurrection to secure everlasting life for us. God did not intend for us to miss what the real meaning of Easter is: that he has completely redeemed us and offers eternal salvation to anyone who will simply trust in his finished saving work, dying and rising for us.

I would like to emphasize that the gospel message of our salvation I posted above from 1 Cor 15:1-4 will be the same for us in the church age as it will be for those left in the Tribulation. The gospel message is the same, by grace alone thru faith in Christ alone, and not by our works.
