I accidentally found this on Bible Hub while looking for a verse. I had never heard of James Montgomery, but have since learned that he was a well-known Christian poet and hymn writer during the last part of the 1700s and the early part of the 1800s. I wanted to share this with you because it is so beautiful. It is his version of the Lord's prayer ... in verse:

Our heavenly Father! hear our prayer;
Thy name be hallowed every where;
Thy Kingdom come; Thy perfect will,
In earth as heaven, may all fulfil; --
Give this day's bread, that we may live;
Forgive our sins as we forgive;
Lead us temptation's snares to shun,
And save us from the Evil One:
Now, and for ever, unto Thee,
The kingdom, power, and glory be!
Thus, as our Saviour taught to say,
In truth and spirit, let us pray.
