When the holy spirit enters us does our spirit and his spirit become one spirit? Is there any scripture to back up this point?

No, our spirit never becomes one with the Holy Spirit. But the Holy Spirit does more and more bring our spirit into accord --more and more perfect communion-- with Himself as He changes us. All we need to do is keep our faith exclusively in Christ and what He did at the Cross, as the Holy Spirit only ever works within the realm of the shed blood of Jesus Christ ... and our faith in that finished work.

God doesn't send any spirit to possess us like satan does. God, in His Wisdom gave us the freedom to choose. We invite Jesus into our hearts. "He stands at the door and knocks....." not barge in and take over. Didn't He say He was going to send another? A Comforter? As with all relationships, it's a merging, like a wedding. 'The two become one,' but each are separate. Jesus wants us to live willingly for Him and He gave us the Holy Spirit to help us. If the Holy Spirit was dominate over us, we would be sinless. I wish! We ask the Holy Spirit for help. Remember, Almighty God is THE original Gentleman. The Holy Spirit connects us to the Power of God. We ask Him for clarification of Scripture, and He helps us discern the spirits, He does comfort us in our sorrows, our shame if we ignore His instruction and do the wrong thing which drives up in a ditch. Been there done that......have a 32 place settings of mugs, and a huge amount of t-shirts. I truly wish I didn't have all of those mugs. I am ashamed I have them, but we learn as we grow. Remember, King David was a man after God's own heart. He was not sinless. He KNEW how to repent. I'm working on that.

John 14:26 is a reference of the Holy Spirit. Not as one but our comforter and teacher.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name(Jesus), he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Here are some about the Holy Spirit being in is and hat we are one with The Lord.
I Cor 6:17
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
I also think 1 Cor 6:19 shows us the Holy Spirit is in us.

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Romans 8 is a great chapter about the Holy Spirit. I was heard a preacher say that it starts with no condemnations and ends with no separation from His love.
Rom 8:14-15
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry , Abba, Father.
And I love Galatians:
Gal 4:4-6
4 But when the fulness of the time was come , God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying , Abba, Father.

It is quite clear we are indwelt. However even back into the Old Testament God always gives humans the choice, he never forces upon us. If we put everything we have into resisting sin with the help of the Holy Spirit we can take a good chunk of it out...Can we stop sinning altogether? Nope! If we could... you wouldn't need a Messiah!

Actually, He doesn't see us as righteous, we become righteous through the blood of Christ. Being born again has regenerated our spirit and made us a righteous as He is.
We no longer have the spirit of a sinner. We are the righteousness of God in Christ.
2 Cor 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
I believe that we are sinners and we are not righteous until we have faith in Christ. We are always sinners because this is what we are but through Christ, what He has done at the Cross that God can see us as the righteous through Christ. If He can make us righteous through Christ as you said, are you saying that you are in no sin right now?

It would seem to me that's all the more reason to start the new day with prayer, making a sort of offering of our daily duties in secret to the Father i.e. carrying our daily cross and ending the day with self examination in prayer, laying our sins, shortcomings and burdens at the foot of the cross and asking for the grace to do better.

“If you want to be honored, you must be humble” (Proverbs 15:33).
It's not what I say, it's what he Bible says. I've already quoted a few scriptures. Once we believe in Jesus, we are MADE the righteousness of God in Christ and are no longer sinners. See Romans 5:19.
It doesn't mean we can't sin, but Jesus took away the sin of the world and the only sin left is not believing in Jesus. (John 16:8-11)
Because of the blood of Jesus and His grace, I can say that I am not in sin now.

The NT never refers to those in Christ Jesus as "sinners" (we hear people say they're *just a sinner saved by grace* - not true. "Sinner saved by grace" speaks of what happened in a moment of time, not who we are now.) We are called the "righteous" - "the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus." It is a legal term - we are positionally righteous as God sees us, because Jesus exchanged our unrighteousness for His righteousness. We will never be seen as more righteous in God's eyes than we are right now. It is done.
Practically, we know that because we are still saddled with our sin nature until we are finally freed of it through our translation through death or the Rapture, we still sin. Yet at salvation, we are "justified", meaning it is truly "just-as-if-I'd" never sinned, as if I have always and in every way been sinless and righteous. That is imputed righteousness. Truly mind-blowing.
Paul lets us know that even when we sin, it is no longer us who sin but the sin nature within us. Romans 7:20 We are now dead to sin. See Romans 7. Once we truly understand these things, we truly understand the "so great salvation" that was bought for us by the work of Jesus on the cross. Hallelujah!

Absolutely. Galatians 2:19,20 are also wonderful verse to remember.
For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.
20. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
