Should Christians Care About Politics?

Kelly was advocating that Christians should not meddle in politics.
He taught that the Bible states we are sojourners and pilgrims in this world.
Politics is in the heart of the World System headed by Satan, which we are to avoid.

As Christians we should focus on praying for our leaders.

This is why Kelly did not vote.
I think William Kelly is wrong on this. However, in his time (the 1800's) there was evil and sin running rampant, but not like it is today.

Maybe if William Kelly was living today and saw what we see, he'd be casting his first vote! :scratch :idunno

When it comes to politics, we can't be passive in this day and age. Those who are will end up with the same fate of those who found themselves in the Colosseum with the lions. :eek

Today, Christians need to be involved in politics because we can see the days growing darker with each day that passes. With abortion claiming 60+ millions lives in our country alone, drag queen story time in our public libraries and schools, the explosion of the acceptance of the LGBTQ lifestyle all over the world, etc. etc. etc.

There is no time to sit on the sidelines in this day and age.

I found this article/sermon very interesting and truthful.

https://christinprophecy.org/sermons/christians-and-politics/

I think this scripture is pretty important from the article:

Exodus 19:21 - where it says that Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law came and said, “You should appoint people over the folks to help you govern. And they should be men who will first of all fear God, second of all should know truth, and third of all should never pursue dishonest gain.”

The problem today is that we vote in people who do not fear God. People like Joe Bide, Barack Obama, etc. :ohno

As I see it, we are not called to make this world a better place, but rather to call people to come to Christ.
Paul wrote," No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may
please him who enlisted him as a soldier". 2 Tim 2:4 NKJV.

We are called to be a separated people. We are citizens of heaven, and we seek those things that are above.

I do not wish to be contentious, I will say no more.

If we don't..who will? Look what happens to countries that have no Christians in their Governments..do we really want to live in a country who's government wallows in a cesspool of sin..oh yeah..we have that here don't we?
No, we don't want to live in a cesspool like Sodom and Gomorrah. Which is why we need to vote and be involved. We can't sit on the sidelines and just throw our hands up in the air. JMHO.

That's the good thing about this forum, there can be some disagreements but it never gets personal like it does on other forums such as facebook etc.

Ask a Bible Teacher » Confused About Voting

**Note: Jack wrote this many elections ago. But it’s timeless advice. ♥ Samantha

Question: I’ve read some articles on Christian websites saying Christians should not vote at all this time because neither candidate truly represents our values. But others are just as adamant in saying we should vote for the candidate who is most representative of our values. It’s so confusing. What do you think?

Answer: We’re not picking a person to lead our religion—we’re picking a person to lead our country. Because of the interdependency of the world’s economic and political systems, it takes a person of exceptional skill and experience to lead our country effectively. In our lifetime, we’ve seen several examples (both Christian and non-Christian) of the incredible price we pay for making the wrong choice.

In my opinion, we should evaluate each candidate’s capabilities as demonstrated by their past performance, along with their character and personal value system, and support the one we believe to be the most qualified to do the job we’re asking him to do. Failing to vote at all could actually benefit the candidate we think is least qualified.

I agree with this and pray for all including my "ememies". I also vote for the candidate I have researched and believe is most qualified to do his/her job of governing this country for the people of this country. My home is in the New Jerusalem but as long as I am on earth, I feel voting is important for Christians.

Yes, we should vote our good conscience, we should pay our taxes, we should obey the laws, and petition our leaders to pass good laws and run our country without the horrendous corruption we are seeing. But.......... we cannot force the majority how to live in a godly manner, when
they are spiritually blind and resistant to God. Jesus said the road we are to follow is narrow and few find it .............. the majority of the world is walking the broad road that leads to perdition. All we can do after that is shine our light for others to see, and share the gospel, praying for the Holy Spirit to use that to bring as many as possible to salvation and see the truth before the age of grace ends and we are taken home.

Perhaps we need to remember that God has placed us in a nation whose government asks for member participation.

We are in a unique situation. No king, no emperor, no fuhrer, but an opportunity to share the voice God gave us.

If we remain silent as a protest, OK, but otherwise we may be voting by acquiescence. [the reluctant acceptance of something without protest]

Voting DOES NOT HAVE TO mean acceptance. But is is an incredible opportunity to salt the politics of the nation we have been blessed to live in.

And remember, you do not have to vote, nor vote for every office, but considering the power of local politics and the importance of our children.
Supporting quality candidates or running for the local school board is an important part of society's foundation.

Remember, a little Old Bay seasons a lot.

If you want religion out of politics, start with
Ilhan Omar. Then continue with the apostles
of Climate Change. There are other worshippers of anarchy who devote their missions to releasing criminals and getting rid of police.
I have my own biases as well, and they influence
the way I vote. It is my belief that the positions
posted on this Christian site are necessary to
save this country from destruction.

Some people want us to only pray about everything and not actually do anything.

James 2:14-18

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

God said to subdue the earth and rule over every living thing on it, so I imagine that implies government, which implies politics.

Governments are one of the ways mankind has subdued everything, but God did not want it that way.

Israel wanted a king and be like the other nations. They couldn't see they already had One, the best in fact.

I believe, that if this is the end times (which I do) that everything is going according to plan. I pray before I vote and sometimes it’s hard to see the world in the shape it’s in and the things I see and hear. I wonder and pray at why I was born for a time such as this cause it looks pretty different than I would have seen this all come down. Just amazed as the things we are seeing in our lifetime. But His word never comes back void. I feel so blessed to read my Bible and know long before Twitter can trend it.

I don't think politics is the way for Christians to try to change the world, but if you are politically minded, I don't see why you can't serve God in that field or vocation as well as any other.
Agree.
