BBC news reports that an undersea cable connecting Shetland to the mainland has been damaged. Last week the other undersea cable to Shetland from the north (Faroe Islands) was damaged. Between the two that now leaves Shetland entirely cut off from internet and telephone. The news report says it was probably a 'fishing boat' that damaged the lines.
It could be, but my worry is that it may be a Russian attack. This has cut off Shetland, the most northerly part of the UK from the rest of the country. It is, like the channel isles during WWII for Germany, part of the UK that is most at risk from Russian sea and air activity and the Royal Navy & RAF do keep a close eye on the area as there are frequent hostile Russian activities.
Let's pray it was just a fishing boat.
