Same-Sex Marriage Bill Aims ‘to Crush Anyone Who Opposes Belief in Gay Marriage’: Senator

A Republican senator has said he will “absolutely oppose” a bill redefining marriage nationwide, warning that liberal activists plan to “use it as a weapon” to drive Christians out of the public square.

During Wednesday’s episode of “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins,” Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.) announced for the first time that he will vote against H.R. 8404, marketed as the “Respect for Marriage” Act, if it comes to the Senate floor.

“It removes all protections from marriage,” Lankford told Family Research Council President Tony Perkins. The legislation, which the Senate could consider shortly, imposes a top-down mandate for every state to recognize any “marriage between two individuals.” That could include “time-bound marriages, open marriages, marriages involving a minor or relative, platonic marriages, or any other new marriage definition that a state chooses to adopt” — including any definition imposed by a judge or state Supreme Court, according to the Alliance Defending Freedom.

“I want to bring this bill to the floor,” said Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). “We’re working to get the necessary Senate Republican support to ensure it would pass.”

“The far-Left is trying to say we want to be able to push this to the next step” of the sexual revolution and “take it where it has not ever gone before,” said Lankford. “And we are going to absolutely oppose that.”

Part of that effort involves silencing religious Americans from speaking out against them. If the Senate passes H.R. 8404, “in all likelihood, this bill will then come straight at every nonprofit that believes in traditional marriage, biblical marriages — quite frankly, historic marriages across all of time,” he added. Any tax-exempt group that upholds scriptural marriage “will be challenged on their tax policy and will immediately become a target of this federal government.”

Overzealous federal bureaucrats, left-wing legal groups, and LGBTQ pressure groups are no longer saying, “We demand recognition” of same-sex marriage, said Lankford; they’re now saying, “We’re going to crush anyone that opposes our belief in gay marriage.”......

I guess we ought not be surprised at this. What worries me is that there are Republicans who would vote for it. If this passes that’s the end of many Christian organizations from Samaritans Purse and Christian churches on down. Goodbye to the tax exemption and charities. Oddly enough, about 20 years ago I told some of my friends that I wouldn’t be surprised to one day see churches go from what they are today back to their roots and become home churches. Don’t know what prompted me to say that but it looks like that’s where it’s headed.

Take note and vote carefully....

Yes, as Spirit filled believers we are involved in restraining as God leads and knowing He's in control.

A few years back we had a real shift in the white house partly because of voters who re-engaged in voting who's not done so in awhile. I've heard from several who did this.

Of course God's will prevails but we can prayerfully participate and leave the rest in God's hands. My prayer, among other things, is for the Lord's control of machines and our voting process that votes are honestly reflected.

Just keep storing up wrath for yourself Chuck....

I truly think the rising power of the LGBTQ lobby and their tag along-s, the growing Pedophile positivity movement rebranded as MAPS ("Minor Attracted Persons") will be what causes widespread persecution of Bible-believing Christians in the years to come.

The church itself in many places is capitulating and kowtowing to these groups and the public school system is forcing indoctrination that these things are "normal" onto the next generation of children. I believe this persecution will also come at the hands of many who think they are "Christians" who are "fighting the good fight against old-school, intolerant, bigot Christians."

Basically, Christians who actually treat the Bible as literal and unchanging as opposed to some "living document that was written in a different cultural time and climate" will be portrayed by the main stream media to be the equivalent to that evil cult known as the 'Westborro Baptist Church" formerly headed by the literally demon-possessed Fred Phelps.

I can see this, in conjunction with "Social Credit Scores" being used to keep ACTUAL Christians who refuse to play nice w/ the world out of the workforce except for the lowest paying, most menial jobs.

Spiritual wickedness in high places.!!!

“He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.” (Proverbs 17:15)

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)

I was thinking yesterday that there's a real flurry and desperation that seems to be ticking with these proposals.

So glad God's in control!!

Edit: And to my last point, I think this exclusion of Bible believing Christians from the majority of positions in the workplace will come before the Antichrist even arrives on the scene; if our nation continues down the road it's been going, I can see this happening in the next 10 yrs or so.

Our country needs to become "Un-Woke" and shove these people back into the shadows where they belong.

Doesn’t surprise me that Dave Joyce is on that list. He is the RINO for my district. Tried to get him voted out in the primary, but sadly he won. I am positive that our RINO senator (Portman) will vote for this.

These people are following this spirit :diablo of tearing down families with all this sick perversion. :gaah

Satan hates families...dictators hate families...even just plain old "big govt" hates families.

All of the above positively lust to supplant the man/husband/father and strive to fraudulently take his place as the "head of the family."

Entities with this anti-family worldview resent and fear traditional, self sufficient family units because they have no need for handouts and have love and loyalty to each other rather than to "the state."

It is really a pathetic time when we all have to think alike or else they want to shut you up. I am not conforming to this worlds way of thinking. They are not my :fish King! Not going along to get along with that crowd of people.
It's insanity that anyone thinks they can homogenize the racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity of this country. I guess the irony of espousing both diversity and uniformity is lost on them.
