Russian Church Patriarch Says Smartphones Could Usher in the Anti-Christ

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church says smartphones risk bringing humanity closer to the arrival of the anti-Christ.

Patriarch Krill said the church does not oppose technological progress but is concerned that the data-gathering capacity of the devices shares too much information.

Krill said such information could be used for centralized control of the world.

He even went as far as to say that the anti-Christ is "the person who will be at the head of the world wide web controlling the entire human race."

Along with smartphones gathering information from users, devices like implanted microchips in humans bring thoughts of convenience and concern.

As CBN News reported, getting people to adopt an implanted microchip has been a hard sell. Many Christians reject the implants because of the concern they could be a prelude to "the mark of the Beast," which Revelation chapter 13 in the Bible's New Testament says will be "a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads."

Even though the microchips have not proved popular in the US, thousands of people in Germany and Sweden have already been chipped to make financial transactions easier.

Sven Becker, head of "I am Robot," tells Euronews that 2,000 to 3,500 people in Germany have implanted a microchip under their skin "as a substitute for key cards to the gym, office, and house."

In Sweden, a pioneer in what's known as "biohacking (adding cybernetic devices to living things)," as many as 4,000 people have implanted microchips, usually for convenience features, essentially turning their hands into contact-less credit cards, key cards and even railcards. The microchips are injected into the back of the hand between the thumb and index finger.

But more people than just Christians oppose the biohacking trend. The website Futurism calls it a "digital security nightmare."

Besides being vulnerable to hackers, a chip implanted in your body means, "They could track where you are, how long you take for lunch every day, or how many times you went to the bathroom if the chip were scanned by a reader," Futurism writes. "And opting out of this kind of data collection is a lot more convoluted when you've got a chip implanted in your bodily tissues. If you want to go off the grid in even the smallest way, you can leave your wallet at home, but removing a microchip requires a bit more, uh, effort."

Back in 2017, Pastor Dave Doyle from Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Iowa said the microchips make him think about the "mark of the Beast" from Revelation 13:16, according to KCRG in Cedar Rapids.

"I take microchipping as a form of the mark. There's many pieces of the mark, and then again, all these pieces of the mark is designed to control," he said.

Doyle thinks this type of technology could eventually be used by governments to abuse people's rights. He believes the chips are something that will one day be forced on people.

"It will eventually become something that's mandatory, and for those who refuse it, you will have to deal with the authorities who don't appreciate your opinions," he said.

    I agree completely with this.
I would have worded a couple of lines differently,
but that is the extent of my disagreement.

And for those of you who know how disagreeable
I can be, that should tell you how much I agree!

These are among the reasons I don't carry
a "smart phone" and am not on Facebook.

Agree, no smart phone, no FB, just RF and a local Outdoors Hunt/Fish site that I rarely post on.

One cannot escape being spied on. Maybe if you live totally self sufficient in a remote place and do not receive any mail, nor use any form of electronic communication or payment you may maintain your privacy. All US mail is scanned both sides and stored.
You can be ID'd from 160 yards by the way you walk. No face need be seen. Snowden provided us with proof that telephone conversations and emails are recorded. Google has been shown to be recording audio on phones without your permission recently. Facebook use is like inviting Dracula into your home. AI algorithms can analyze your location history to know pretty much all about you. "Smart meters" know when you are home or not . The new internet connected everything from cars to appliances completes the spy ring. One could worry about this. In fact one could really worry a lot.
Personally , I take this verse literally and choose to be anxiety and worry free:
    Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

I do have a smart phone . It is very useful for photos and sharing them. The maps and GPS that spy on my location are also really useful. I could not do safe two factor logins for financial transactions using my PC without it. That is a must with all the criminal hackers out there. Then there is quite a list of defenses for the PC to prevent information theft or other problems.
One must use VPN, a good firewall and antivirus anti-spying/tracking program(s) or your information will be stolen. Helps to encrypt your drive and not put financial information in the "cloud". There is more to do , but not within the scope of this post.

I still have a $30 flip phone. With buttons you press multiple times to get the right letters to send a text. No emoticons, lol. I only have it for calling my family. When I taught high school, sometimes I would show my students and they didn't know what it was. haha.

I find it amazing that the head of this church believes that the anti-Christ is coming.
It makes you wonder how much other eschatology he is familiar with.

I'm sure if we new the extent of the government control already imposed on us without our consent, the end would be in sharper focus. However, there is so much happening on so many levels, it is virtually impossible to track it all. Imo, that's why we must trust God's Spirit more than ever before. I sense(in my spirit) something ominous approaching and it's not some planet. I believe strongly, we are in the last Hours before God's wrath falls. Pray like never before for unsaved love ones, we certainly have been. May God have mercy on our families and friends.

I feel the same way, and so does my sister. Praying very hard for those we love who are not saved.

Having done all, stand. Ephesians 6: 10-17
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

I don't worry about using my smart phone, beyond the usual precautions, I trust in God for my protection and to remove me and all the other Christians and the children below the age of accountability before the really bad stuff gets going. Jesus said He was coming to get us, and to not worry because of that promise.

I don't think smart phones bring on the Antichrist, but I do think that the whole information and technology that we live with now will make it super easy for that one to take control for the brief 7 years that he has to do his thing. Before Jesus comes again and destroys him and his crowd. The A/C will USE the tech to control the world, and the finances of everyone that bows to him and takes his mark, but only for a brief time.

Nothing we can do will prevent the fulfillment of prophecy. We know the A/C is coming, and we continue to pray, be salt and light by resisting the murder of babies, the evil attacks on people's rights and freedoms to be Christians, to be Jews without being targets of mobs. But the time will come. Using our cellphones, and the internet isn't bringing it about any faster and it won't protect the saints and martyrs of the Tribulation.

Meanwhile, praying for the salvation of the lost around us, witnessing to those who will listen and even those who won't, voting against baby killers, speaking up for the rights of cake bakers, florists and marriage clerks in Kentucky is a good thing, and we can continue to be about our Father's business, to occupy till HE comes.

And I gotta say, the internet and a cell phone make that just a little bit easier.

Satan will use everything to achieve his goal of replacing GOD. He may use beautiful art and music, the latest hip technology, or down and dirty porn and horror. Whatever it takes he will try to use to his advantage.
