Russia vows response as Finland seeks NATO membership without delay
Finland, which shares a 1,300 km (810 mile) border and a difficult past with Russia, has previously remained outside the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to maintain friendly relations.

Finland said on Thursday it would apply to join NATO "without delay," with Sweden expected to follow, as Russia's invasion of Ukraine looked set to bring about the very expansion of the Western military alliance that Vladimir Putin aimed to prevent. The decision by the two Nordic countries to abandon the neutrality they maintained throughout the Cold War would be one of the biggest shifts in European security in decades. Finland's announcement angered the Kremlin, which called it a direct threat to Russia and threatened an unspecified response. It came even as Russia's war in Ukraine was suffering another big setback, with Ukrainian forces driving Russian troops out of the region around the second largest city Kharkiv, the fastest Ukrainian advance since forcing Russia to withdraw from the capital and northeast more than a month ago.

Russia vows response? Really? They’ve done such a great job in taking over Ukraine…..

Russias threat of a mighty military has been put to bed for now. Yes, they have nukes, but so do many other countries.

Truthfully, now that we've seen modern Russia in action, the only thing they've got is WMD that's concerning... Beyond that they've got little for NATO to be concerned about. Conventionally speaking, they could be addressed very quickly.

I wonder what it takes to expel a country from NATO... Turkey should have never been admitted by my way of thinking...

I think @ the time they were simply an ally of convenience because they share a common border with Russia and there has historically been bad blood between the two. Sort of the usual "the enemy of my enemy is my ally" garbage during the Cold war that caused the US Govt to ally with any thug nation whose leaders had "anticommunist" on their resume.

Germany today has the same problem with Muslim Turks running amok as the UK and France have.

I know at the time that the western Allies were all but spent and everyone just wanted to go home but I think General Patton was correct; we should have armed what was left of the Wehrmacht (not the SS) and forced the Soviet union's Armed forces back into Russia. We also had the atom bomb at a time they did not.

Some people speculate that Patton was assassinated for his views and being so public about them but I think he was right. We would have spared Poland, the Baltic nations and all the other countries Stalin "liberated" which, after the war become the USSR's "satellite nations," decades of suffering.

I cannot believe how frightened we were of the Soviet Union in the 1980's....they are a joke.

I have a feeling General Patton was stopped from going after Russia by General Eisenhower because the latter obviously had political aspirations. IMO, had General Patton been chosen to be Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, we'd be living in a much different and probably better world right now.

Hey;

Daniel message about

Daniel 7:5-8

5 “And there before me was a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. It was told, ‘Get up and eat your fill of flesh!’

6 “After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.

7 “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.

8 “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.

"Russia" 3 Ribs (Ukraine; Sweden; Finland)?????

Then the AntiChrist take over and power control ????

If this is about or maybe I am wrong.

Think that is stretching it a little bit, no disrespect.

It seems my initial thoughts that their first nuke threats were similar to the Boris Yeltzin days of angry, impotent bluster were mostly correct. My grandparents and great-grandparents got out before the height of the Cold War era but their stories of the place didn't leave me impressed. In the west, we're so used to being self-deprecating, navel-gazing and being neurotic that the bluffing and peacocking of other countries is truly foreign and intimidating. I am getting a real glimspe at how the final kingdom could be made mostly of clay. What a clown show. Even the Babylonians would have us all for breakfast.
