Putin expressed that he believes NATO would use nuclear weapons to defeat Russian armed forces.

President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Russia had no choice but to take into account the nuclear capabilities of NATO as the US-led military alliance was seeking the defeat of Russia. "In today's conditions, when all the leading NATO countries have declared their main goal as inflicting a strategic defeat on us, so that our people suffer as they say, how can we ignore their nuclear capabilities in these conditions?" Putin told Rossiya 1 state television, according to TASS.

This is like watching a Red Flag exercise I attended while in the Air Force during the 1970s. It ended with all parties launching their nukes. An officer I spoke with afterwards said that they always end this way. Someone gets backed into the corner and sees no way of surviving and uses his nukes. This results in all involved doing the same. Game over. At this point it's just a matter of who is going to launch first. Fun times.
