I have no idea what is going on, so it is entirely conjecture, but I am wondering if this has anything to do with the recent Russian submarine accident that killed 12 or so sailors. Or maybe there was a credible security threat at his destination/presentation site. Will be interesting if we ever find out why.

Apparently a Russian sub and American sub exchanged fire yesterday in American waters but details are scarce and the only source I have seen so far cannot be used here, so this can be considered rumor or speculation only. Quite likely more details will come out today.

The report I read about the Russian submarine described it as a deep dive research sub.
The pictures accompanying the article were misleading. They depicted mostly normal Russian military subs.
Submarines hitting each other under water, though not impossible, is very improbable.
I can't speak for Russian subs but US subs constantly use passive sonar to listen to their surroundings.
Something such as a submarine has a distinctive sound and can be avoided.

The Russian research sub I read about with the fire yesterday was reportedly in Russian waters near Norway. Regardless, this could be shaping up to be an interesting week -- not sure how much higher tensions can wind before something bursts.

Just to add some fuel to the fire.... I work right next to Chesterfield Airport in Chesterfield, MO. It is a small airport that is typically used for private jets. After this news came out yesterday, this airport was flooded with Military Aircraft. Planes and helicopters both. There must have been 15 planes come in from Scott Air Force Base. This is the first time I have seen military helicopters here. Maybe it was just some sort of training day, but I've lived here for the last 10+ years and never seen more than two military aircraft there at once. Yesterday, they were flying in groups of several planes landing there at once. I don't know the difference between the types of military planes, but these were the fighting kind and the helicopters were HUGE. I only got to see them from a short distance, but they looked to be the size of a small plane, really really bulky, absolutely nothing like the helicopters I've seen before.

There's an article in the RR News Section this morning claiming a US - Russian submarine firefight. I read it and I wouldn't put much confidence in it, but it's in the RR news nonetheless.

I just remembered that the VP and POTUS must be in separate and secrete locations during any action. Also, I believe both houses would be called to an emergency briefing, not for consent but informing. More rumors of war, we've been warned.

It will be very interesting to get more information about all of this. I am relieved that President Trump is okay. My first thought was that some "crazy" had taken a pot-shot at him and reached his target. I could see Pence being called back to the White House for that, and Putin returning to his digs.
Seems there is hardly ever a morning that something isn't on this board to wake us up and get our adrenelin going!!!

I did ask a friend this morning if he has seen any unusual military activity at the air base here near Charleston but he has seen nothing unusual recently except for formation flying by fighter jets but that has been going on for a number of weeks and is probably nothing more than typical training.

Whoops. Posted the last thing without a comment. I have seen no military aircraft at the airport today. None flying overhead and no helicopters. I'm not sure what the deal was yesterday afternoon. I doubt they would be willing to tell me. lol

So now we can presume that Putin was perhaps working on charming the G20 in the time leading up to this disaster as his navy was busy busy busy trying to destabilize the world's information and banking and so forth.

And this would be why everyone was recalled to Washington and Moscow after things went sideways for Russia.

And it sounds like whatever Putin was up to, God stopped him.
