You probably shuddered if you saw the Baldacchino. We have all seen it on TV. Four very dark spiral columns with a canopy on top. If the Vienna Boys Choir sings or the Pope holds a mass, take a look at this hideous eight story tall artifact. It's dark because the bronze was stripped from the Pantheon, the Roman temple used to honor all the pagan gods. The twisted helix-spiral shape of the four columns would have been the envy of the temple of Dagon.

I googled a picture of the Baldacchino, and I see what y'all mean. It does look creepy and pagan!

Continuing...It sits atop Peter's tomb. I wonder how they would react if those on this site officially requested that a crank handle and pulley system be installed so Protestants could help Peter turn over in his grave.
