Hello, my name is David. I am 22 years old, I was born and raised in East Africa Tanzania on a small city off the coast called Dar-es-Alaam. I was blessed to be raised in a Christian family from the moment I was born. I have one sibling who is 3 years older than me, and I currently live with both of my parents as I finish college. We all moved to Dallas, Texas in the fall of 2011 and have been living here ever since. I currently attend a University up North in Denton pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems. Now that you know my background lets get to the testimony!

As I mentioned before I have been blessed to be raised in a Christian family, however I came to realize later that being born into a Christian family doesn’t necessarily mean “I am saved” or “born again”. For years I had gone to church, sang praise songs and even memorized bible verses in my elementary Christian school, but I never really had a personal encounter or relationship with Jesus. I was a Christian on Sunday but during the week I blended right into the world.

I saw my sister give her life to Christ while I was in high-school and witnessed her radical change of heart. This was shocking but whenever my parents asked if I was ready to do the same, I kept postponing it saying, “I would do it one I was done with college.” The idea was after college I would have “less temptations.” Also, deep down I wanted to enjoy college without any limits. Fun to me was women, going out with friends, smoking, and maybe drinking at times. I didn’t realize at the time that what God had to offer was much more than these. I also didn’t know when you give your life to Christ you don’t lose anything, but in reality, you gain everything.

After years of running a hundred miles on the wrong direction, on September 2nd, 2018 at 11:56 PM in my college dorm, I made the decision to commit my life to Jesus Christ. On this unforgettable night I came to a full surrender to Jesus Christ after I was deeply convicted by the Holy Spirit after reading a testimony online. During this week I had felt rejection, and I felt lost in all my addictions to the sin I had accumulated over the years. When I was reading this testimony online, I knew immediately I wanted God to change me. In desperation I cried out to God and simply said “I surrender”. I wanted Jesus in my life.

I hadn’t realized it then but at that moment I became alive in Christ Jesus. In the following weeks as I started my journey in Christ by reading his word, I began to see changes in my life. Fast forward to a couple months later, Jesus had somehow brought me out of my previous sinful lifestyle that included, lust, pornography, smoking, alcohol, and much more. Jesus had set me free, and I could barely recognize the man I was a few months prior.

Today I am not perfect, but I strive to seek the righteousness of Christ. I know I am saved purely by Gods grace. There was nothing I could have done to get where I am. It was God alone who pursued me while I was running away from him. He changed my heart by the power of the Holy Spirit, and now I hope to bring others to Christ as well.

I decided to join rapture forums because I personally believe Jesus is coming soon, and the topic of bible prophecy is important to every believer because it gives hope. I’ve also always been interested with bible prophecy. Fun fact, I use to read the book of Revelation when I was a child. The book would scare me, but at the same time it was so fascinating. I had no clue what any of it meant though. However, it’s as if God put the fascination of end time scripture in my heart before I was even a believer.

When I got saved, I came to realize the topic of the Lord’s return is being avoided in countless pulpits today, which has caused many sincere Christians to believe it’s not necessary to preach about the return of Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus is right at the door, and we are all living in borrowed time. This belief is not based on some “gut” feeling or emotion, but on the Word of God. It’s clear from scripture we can’t know the day or hour. However, as believer we are supposed to be on “alert”, “watchful”, and “ready” when we see the signs Jesus spoke of (Mathew 24 & 25). Jesus again commands us to look up for our redemption when we see the signs mentioned (Luke 21:28). Honestly, we are living in exciting times, and I think there is nothing more exciting than to see the bible coming to life in our everyday news today. It validates God is true to his word, and he will never leave or forsake us.

Sorry for the long testimony, but I am glad to be here with you all. I hope we can all encourage each other in the forums through prayer and reminders as we all wait on the glorious appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ”

Just a couple of questions because I’m curious how you felt when people/family you talked to you about Jesus and accepting Him as your Lord. Were you resentful and upset with them or did you know in your heart they were doing because they love you?
What did you feel helped the most in turning to Jesus when you did?
Blessings to you and your family :hug

Well my parents always were nice about telling me the importance of committing my life to Christ. I knew they loved me, I just didn’t feel ready at the time. I think what helped me the most was prayer. Once I got saved my mom told me she would go to my empty room at home (while I was in college) and get on her knees by my bed and pray for me. Explains how I suddenly came to faith in my room in college miles away from home. If we pray according to Gods will he really does answer prayers. My parents prayed for my salvation and Jesus answered.

Wonderful testimony Dave and welcome to the Rapture Forums. My Father and Mother in law were missionaries for a Baptist Church in Tanzania and they retired from it about 10 years ago. I am not sure what city or village they were in but they absolutely loved the people and being there. I am sorry now that I didn't have a chance to visit Tanzania while they lived there, but I saw many of their pictures and beautiful African art and carvings they brought back.
