MLB and the Dodgers

How in the world did the Philadelphia Phillies make it to the World Series? They got hot at the right time.

My mom blames former MVP and now Mets color commentator Keith Hernandez. He said mid season he wouldn’t go to any more Phillies games because he didn’t want to watch bad baseball. :lol
Hard not to associate Keith Hernandez with the “magic loogie” episode of Seinfeld. Pretty funny take on the whole careening bullet theory of the very unfortunate Dealy Plaza assassination of JFK.

MLB baseball is kind of a rigged deal. Small market teams seem to stand little chance of making the playoffs; follow the money.
I use to believe that, but there is more parity in baseball than any other major sport. Large market teams may spend more on players, but percentage wise, that does not make their teams more likely to make the playoffs. Below is an interesting read.

I’ve never seen that episode, so I have no point of reference. I’ve seen some of the shows in syndication, but I don’t quite get them.

I think that Philly will have to conjure up the spirit of Rocky to defeat the Astros. But please….no more Rocky movies! The next one will have to be titled “Theatrics in Geriatrics”. And, even Rambo could be infused into Rocky to put down the city of Houston: in Rambo-speak and tone, “Hey, they drew first blood….”

Aaron Judge has agreed to a 9 year deal to remain with the Yankees. All it cost the Yankees is 360 million dollara….o_O

To put that insane amount of money in an easier amount to process, based on 40 million per year he will earn, and based on his average at bats per year, he will be paid 72,000 for every at bat, and he normally will bat 4 times each game he starts.

I would not consider throwing that much money to someone who plays a little kids game, especially someone who is injury prone.

It does seem to be “out there” the amount athletes get paid. However, if people weren’t paying big bucks to watch at the stadiums, and fans were not camped in front of TVs watching, owners could not pay such a high price.

The Dodgers either traded, or released Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger, and Trea Turner. Justin Turner has been one of my favorite Dodgers for years.
I remember Justin Turner when he was a Met. He couldn’t hit a lick but he was a character who would pie players during post game interviews. Then Marlyn Byrd taught him how to hit after he was DFAd and he became a star.
