MLB and the Dodgers

It will be interesting where Judge ends up next year, being a free agent.
Yes, he signed a one year contract for this season for a lowly salary of 19 million. He turned down a 7 year contract for 213 million, because after the season he is having, he will make way above that offer as plenty of teams can afford him.

Lets look at his numbers for this season at 19,000,000 salary

He will bat approx 560 times this season, so he gets paid 33,928 each time he bats, or 117,823 for each game and there are 162 games.

I should’ve practiced harder as a kid…. o_O

Stephen A today made a good case why he believes Judge will be a Met next season. Its all about money, and the Mets have plenty to offer.

My guess is Judge is a loyal Yankee, and will sign a huge, huge contract to stay in place.
There is a huge rivalry between the Mets and the Yankees, so much that they rarly make trades with each other. There could be a bidding war, but despite Steve Cohn having billions, he once said he would not spend like a drunken sailor. He also has to consider he should throw money at deGrom to keep him from walking.

I just watched a video from a triple A minor league game last night. The batter knocked the ball extremely hard, looked like an easy HR. He did the excessive bat flip, and jogged around the bases and it was not until he rounded 3rd base that he realized the ball was caught. Apparently, there was a strong wind blowing in and it kept his ball in the ballpark. Talk about being embarrassed…..

I thought the game was on TV last night, it was not.

One of my favorite players, Albert Pujols, hit his career 699th and 700th home run last night, a milestone only 3 other players reached. At 42, he is having a great year, which he has said will be his last.

Side note, but interesting. In a televised show back on 13 April, a sportscaster predicted Pujols would hit his 700th HR this season, and reach that milestone against the Dodgers in a late Sep game on a Friday night - all of which came true. He also predicting it would be hit against Clayton Kershaw, who by the way was scheduled to pitch last night but the Dodgers changed his start to today.

Pujols is a very active and strong Christian, but sadly divorced his wife earlier this year, but both remain committed to their children, and she still roots for him.

Dodgers have clinched the best record in the National league, and with a few more wins in their last 9 games, they will secure the best reocrd in baseball, and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

They tied their team record last night for the most wins ever in a season with 106 wins. With 9 games left, its safe to assume they will set their new team record.

Is that the one where St Louis beat them 11-1? Is so, just as well it wasn't on tv.
No, I wanted to watch because I knew Pujos would hit a HR, and then he hit 2.

Dodgers by far have the best team, but even as the best team, they still lose 3 out of every 10 games.

They have out scored their opponents by 322 runs. The second best are the Yankees, who out scored their opponents by 228 runs.

Since I grew up in SoCal, when I check the local newspaper I look to see if the Dodgers won or lost their last game and where they are in the standings. I noticed St Louis stomped on them the other day, which can happen to any team in baseball...

6 games left in the season. All the Dodgers have to do in order to secure the best record in baseball is win 1 game, or Houston loses 1 game.

Home field advantage for as long as they win in the playoffs is going to be a big help in winning the WS.

Im not forgetting about the Mets. They have the 3rd best record, and are more than capable of going all the way.

Dodgers clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs. One more win out the the next 4 games will tie them for the 4th most games ever won in a season by one team. If they win all four of their last games, they will finish with 114 wins, tied for the second most ever, with the record being 116 wins.

I doubt they will win their last 4 games as they will probably rest their key players for at least half those games.

Albert Pujols passed Babe Ruth last night on the career RBI list. Ruth had 2214, and Albert now has 2216, making him second on the list behind Hank Aaron who has 2297.

Now that the regular season is over, I will now go through my daily withdrawal symptoms, by having game no box scores to check. I no longer watch more than a few innings of any game, but ever since I was a kid, I daily check the box scores of my favorite teams and players. Im a stats guy, and I keep up with all the different category leaders.

Go Dodgers!!!!!! Its just a crying shame my favorite team resides in a city I would never, ever visit again.

Next up, severe beating inflicted upon the SD Padres starting tomorrow at Dodger Stadium.

When I was a Drill Instructor, I was stationed in SD, and went to several Padre games. They are my 3rd favorite CA team, well behind the Angels and Dodgers.

Just saw that the Padres showed the Dodgers how the game is played. Nonetheless, Dodgers and their fans can be proud of the great season they had.

I remember way back when the MLB added some new franchises to the leagues. The Padres were one of those teams and spent a lot of time in last place in their division. I guess things have changed a bit for them.
