Meditation

Salluz

Aspiring Man of God
What is the biblical meaning of meditation? How can one incorporate it into his life?

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers. (Psalm 1:1-3)

I believe Biblical meditation is just what the verse says, the one blessed delights in God's law, and meditates, or thinks about it all the time. Deep thinking, focusing.

Which would be contrasted with mystical meditation that seeks to empty the mind and new age blather about conciousness, oneness, the universe, blah blah. The Christian doesn't want to be emptied, but filled.

How can one incorporate it into his life?

Walk all day with God either in the front or the side of your mind.
Talk to Him all day long.
Thank Him even for the smallest of things.
No item in your life is too small or too big to discuss with Him.
Take one specific time in your day to put away distractions as best you can and talk with Him directly.

Our Father has said that He wants to be a part of our lives. Take Him up on that offer.
