Maui is on fire...........

Old Lahaina town is burning............. my heart is broken. People are being evacuated from the area - including the Kaanapali Coast timeshares and hotels - to the airport. There is also another fire on the island, on the other side where many timeshares are located. I feel so badly for the local people, who so love their island,
and for the panicked tourists who have been kicked out of their accommodations, with nothing to fall back on. It must be so scary for all of them. Please, Lord, send rain and calm the strong winds that are driving the fires. Be with the people and protect them. Give them your peace, and protect them, in this terrible time.............

There are also reports of fire on the big island................but, I have no specifics on that.

Hawaii wildfire updates: Loss of life 'expected' as Maui fires rage

Officials say they expect "loss of life" as ferocious wildfires, whipped by strong winds and very dry conditions, are wreaking havoc in Hawaii, prompting evacuations, rescues and school closures and prompting an emergency proclamation from the acting governor.

Gov. Josh Green will be returning to the islands immediately due to the wildfire emergency, his office announced in a statement Wednesday.

"Heroic efforts by first responders have prevented many casualties from occurring, but some loss of life is expected. Our entire emergency response team, including the Hawai‘i National Guard has mobilized and is being supported by FEMA," Green said in a statement Wednesday.

Death toll is now around 80..............and, there are still areas that have not been checked due to heat and/or
fires still burning. Heartbreaking..........
I guess the warning systems did not activate or were not put to use..........lots of answers to questions needed.

80? I'm tearing up just hearing the number, that's terrible!
Not that any loss of life isn't terrible, this is just so overwhelming for the Hawaiian people's.

The story going around but not in the papers is that officials knew that there was a fire but were slow or did not think it was that bad and did not evacuate. Even on Oahu, the day before the fire, the winds were so strong that it was twirling around but it felt dry. It was super weird the way Hurricane Dora was affecting the weather.

We are all heartbroken as to what happened to Maui. Lahaina is gone. It's unbelievable, so sorry for the people.

I was blessed to have visited Maui three times. The first was on my honeymoon in 1980, the second the summer just before my dh was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and the third with my daughter in 2018. Such a beautiful place with such lovely people........... ( every other year from 1982 on we spent our week on Kauai, which was like a second home to Paul and I.) My heart is broken for all who are suffering such great loss.

This tragedy is horrific, for sure, but it also makes me realize that one day - and not that far in the future - this whole planet earth will be engulfed
in fire and devastation of all kinds. The unsaved are so blind as to what is coming in their near future. Even sadder is to know that probably 80% or more of the people will never seek, never find, the salvation that comes from Jesus Christ alone. They refuse to open their eyes to see, and their ears to hear, the Truth of God's Word. Even tho it breaks God's heart, because He wants all to be saved, He is aware that many - if not most - will refuse to bend their knee, repent and accept His free gift of salvation through His Son. That is truly heartbreaking to me..............

Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Just sent off a donation to the Maui Food Bank............... l would humbly ask if any of you have the means to help out in
any small way, please donate through a legitimate source of help. If many give just a little bit, it will add up and really help
the local people there. Lets be the hands and feet of our Lord as we are able to do so.

I thought that their were many that perished that never dreamed they wouldn’t see another day to be saved.

Please be careful donating. My boss who is an attorney said to check out charities who are top heavy in paying salaries to themselves so please be careful. I read 100s and 100s of millions have been donated so please research carefully. Already scammers are out there. Also the Fire Department can’t handle food donations anymore.

I did investigate where to donate.............the food bank was one of the most highly ranked by the people who live on Maui.
They were asking people to donate to them. I agree, so many people have no qualms about re-directing money donated.
One has to be careful.
