Maranatha And Soon
By Dennis Huebshman

All true believers of our Savior Jesus have one thing in common; we are ready to leave this sin-filled evil planet, and begin our eternity with Him. Unfortunately, there are more people who reject the Savior, than those who are believers, and they are caught up with the so-called “pleasures and treasures” of this earth. Whether they realize it or not, they are committing themselves to spending eternity separated from Him in total misery. (all emphasis mine)

One word used by believers is “Maranatha”, which is translated as “Come Lord Jesus”. There are two Bible verses with this message in them; 1 Corinthians 16:22 and Revelation 22:20. The first; “If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, Come!” and then; “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming soon.’ Amen, Come Lord Jesus.” (ESV)

Most prophecy experts, and even novices such as myself, believe that day is soon to be upon us. There have been movies and books about the event known as “Harpazo”, which translates as “caught up” or “caught away”. It is also commonly known as the “Rapture”, or the carrying away of the church from earth to Heaven. The bible tells of this in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-53.

Before going further, Jesus will not be coming to call up any particular organized evangelical group; nor will it only be for those who attend services in any particular building. Jesus’ “church” is made up of people who serve God, and they will be found inside and outside formal churches. There are those who will receive and accept the gift Jesus provided, that will never have been inside a formal church service, yet they will spend eternity with Him.

Matthew 16:15-18; “He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ (16) Simon Peter replied, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.’ (17) And Jesus answered him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in Heaven. (18) And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it’.”

The “rock” was Peter’s confession that Jesus was the “Christ”, meaning one who is anointed or the Messiah. All who are to become a part of Jesus’ flock (John 10), must believe Jesus is our Savior, and must accept the free gift that was given at Calvary. The only “ritual” is to confess we are all sinners, and know that only Jesus can give forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we must call out to Him to be our Savior. As you will see, these fit the ABC’s of Salvation.

There are religions that state you must pass certain rituals, recite scripted lines and provide some form of funding to become a member. This is why Jesus says the way is “hard” that leads to Salvation. It’s difficult for some to believe that it is actually child-like simple to be one of His flock.

Ephesians 2:8-9; “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, (9) not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

In 1 John chapters 2-5, we’re told about false prophets and antichrists being among us. They were here even in the very first century of this age. Jesus Himself stated that near the end of this age, they would increase in numbers and activity (Matthew 24:5; 11-12 and also Luke 21). This is taking place today in this world, for those who know to look for it.

Isaiah 5:20 has even entered some previously bible-based churches. “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.”

Messages are being given to provide the members a “feel-good” attitude, and sin is conveniently being left out. In fact, what God called abominations, are now said to have “evolved” into accepted actions. Whatever relationships between two or more people, with age not being a barrier, are somehow no longer sinful in the eyes of these groups. After all, they believe the Bible is nothing but ancient writings over 2000 years old, and the old “myths” couldn’t possibly be applied to today’s world.

The turning away from anything to do with Jesus is obvious, especially among the younger generations. Even the people in our government, who are supposed to be there for our best interests, are now steadily moving toward the new world order, and the one-world government. The day is almost here when the ultimate antichrist and false prophet will appear on the scene.

When Jesus said, “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”, the church today, His true flock, will not go through the 7-year wrath/tribulation. God promised this in 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 and Revelation 3:10.

As Joshua stated in Joshua 24:15, he and his house would serve the Lord. I firmly state here that in our house, we trust the Lord completely, that His promises are true, and because we have received and accepted His Son, we will not be here for the worst 7-year period of time this world has ever experienced.

All of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of the Lord. (Romans 3:23) The penalty for our sins is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through His Son Jesus. (Romans 6:23) I mentioned the ABC’s of Salvation. Please go to Romans 10:9-13. Then John 3:18 and 1 John 5:12. Follow this with John 14:6 and Acts 4:12; and finally Romans 8:1. The last verse is God’s absolute covenant with all believers because, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

A – admit you are a sinner as we all are. (Romans 3:23)

B – believe Jesus died for all our sins, and God raised Him from the grave to conquer sin and death. Jesus is the only way to Heaven (John 14:6).

C – Call on the name of the Lord, and you will be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Do not complicate what God has provided for us. No one will be turned away, if they will truly call out to His Son to be their Savior.

All who refuse to receive and accept the Gift given by Jesus, and paid for with His precious sinless blood, will be at the Great White Throne Judgment of Revelation 20:11-15.

All world events today are right on target to enter the Tribulation. You can guarantee that you will not be here for that terrible time by becoming a member of Jesus’ flock. Today would not be too early to call on Him, for the “call” for us to rise up to meet Him in the air could be at any moment now. Once you have called out, and received and accepted His forgiveness, you too will be saying:

Maranatha – Come Lord Jesus!

Excellent article..thank you for posting..as Believers we have all seen how sin and evil has intensified, but to me, it has gone past the point, on so many levels, where God has sent His judgement in the past...not only do the godless practice their special sin, they are "proud" of it..they also demand that everyone promote or accept it..
I think it was Billy Graham who said, If God doesn't judge America, then He owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.....Billy was just trying to show the seriousness of how far the country has fallen...We know that God is just and so very merciful...everyday people are being saved, and we pray for that.

Thanks for this! I’m going to borrow the phraseology for posting to different sites that I am able to comment on, I.e., Brietbart, Natural News, etc. planting seeds, planting seeds!

Would it be wrong to add, “You must repent?” or some such addition?
That would depend on what a person believes repent means. Many Christians do not correctly understand what repent means.

From Jack Kelley

Question: What part does repentance have in becoming saved? We often read we must just ask for forgiveness and believe in Jesus.

Answer: This is confusing to many because somewhere along the way the word “repent” was re-defined to mean “change your behavior.” But the Greek word translated “repent” in the New Testament really means “change your mind.” It’s used mostly in the gospels and the first part of the Book of Acts when either Jesus or the disciples/apostles were urging their Jewish listeners to repent and be saved.

Because their audience had been taught that keeping the Law was the way to salvation, they needed to change their minds and realize they needed a Savior. This is what Jesus was teaching in Matt. 5:20 when He said unless their righteousness surpassed that of the Pharisees they would certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The Pharisees had devoted their lives to keeping even the smallest details of the Law, and Jesus was saying this was not sufficient for salvation. It was going to take an even greater righteousness than that.

Later, Paul wrote that God had made known a righteousness apart from the Law that comes through faith in Jesus to all who believe, and this righteousness would be sufficient to save us (Romans 3:21-24). This is the righteousness Jesus had been talking about.

Gentiles didn’t need to change their minds about saving themselves through the Law, they needed to change their minds about their behavior and recognize that it was sinful. This is true of unbelievers today as well. Before anyone can be saved, they need to come to the realization that they’re sinners and believe that Jesus died and rose again so their sins could be forgiven. This is what the phrase “repent and be saved” means.
Therefore, when we’ve asked Jesus to be our savior, the repenting has been done.

Wrong to add? I don't believe so.

Really, I have expounded or detailed the authors meaning. quoted. "I mentioned the ABC’s of Salvation. Please go to Romans 10:9-13."

Romans 10:9-13 King James Version (KJV).
9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Andy C also added or expounded the meaning of repentance. Thanks to Andy C. :)

Union and Fellowship Expanded :: by Jack Kelley

Quoted.
"One reason that many Christians live such defeated lives is that having only learned about the Union part of being a believer, they only know that God has forgiven their sins and that they’ll go to be with Him when they die or are raptured. They don’t realize that they still need regular confession to stay in Fellowship here in the mean time.

Now by defeated lives, I mean they lack the spiritual success all Christians are promised (John 10:10). They might be doing all right from a worldly perspective, although many are deprived even of that, but their lives do not reflect the Spiritual well being for which there is no substitute in worldly living. Nor do they feel the sense of peace and satisfaction that we all desire."

1 John 1:9 " This verse was written for believers who are forever saved, but are in danger of being out of Fellowship because of their sins. When we confess in faith, we’re immediately forgiven and purified from all unrighteousness."

Also quoted by Jack Kelley. One is to admit that we’re sinners who would be hopelessly lost without a Savior, and the other is to believe that God sent His Son to pay the penalty due us for our sins so He could be our Savior. Therefore repentance comes before salvation, and that’s why we say, “Repent and be saved.” Acts 3:19

The book of Acts especially focuses on repentance in regard to salvation (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 11:18; 17:30; 20:21; 26:20).
To repent, in relation to salvation, is to change your mind regarding sin and Jesus Christ.

I agree with the change your mind part that we have to change from the worldly way of thinking, and receive and accept Jesus as our one and only Savior - John 14:6.

I was listening to Andy Woods today PPOV173 talking about this. He mentioned that it is believing that saves you and having the correct translation of repentance which means change of mind , not penance like the Catholics believe, he points out that the book of John is the gospel that speaks of salvation the most and never mentions the word repent through the book of John, but he uses the word believe 98 times and life 36 times in reference to salvation in his gospel.

Rose, last night I listened to PPOV173 also, and the teaching of Andy Woods bears witness with my Spirit. I'm currently teaching the gospel of John to two women whom I am mentoring each week. I sent the link to this particular PPOV to both women, because he's reinforcing the discussions we've already had in our most recent mentoring session. So grateful that God led me straight to this faithful preacher of His Word.

You must be eating a lot? :pizza :scratch

If so, you better stop all that so you can cut down on all that time in the bathroom!!! :lol
LOL. Been eating only one meal a day (going on two months of that now), doing a diet and cleansing routine along with my wife to help her reverse the pre-diabetes. I have a fast metabolism, and combined with the cleanse it keeps me very "regular". God is so good. Just the other day we were able to buy 40 pounds of apples for only $5.00 ! Yep, five dollars. Now we can be even more regular.

Well, I use probiotics and they help. But I'm not in there but once a day. :lol

You keep using all that stuff and don't get off the loo, you might be in there until the 2nd coming!! :lol

I can see it now, The Lord will descend with the angels and call everyone up, then as we are going up, one of the angels says to the Lord "but Lord there is still one left on the loo" and the Lord will say "Don't worry, I'll pick Rocky up when I return!!!" :lol :faint2
