Very interesting! I will pray for Christian evangelism to go forward. We have a lot of Hindus in S. Ontario who are very open to the gospel. They send their kids to Vacation Bible School (very, very important for Christian evangelism to immigrants) because they want them to learn about the dominant religion of where they are. There are a LOT of unchurched Christians in Canada--not sure why exactly. Maybe because there was a lot of legalism in the past. That has blended into liberal social gospel in the mainline churches--which then die without the power of the gospel. The only churches that seem to do reasonably well are evangelical Baptists and gospel-oriented independent churches.Minnesota has always been extremely liberal. Only state (plus DC) that voted for Mondale in the Reagan landslide. Only state plus MA and DC in the another election. Deep, deep blue state. American version of Pravda published here. Communist Party Presidential candidate always on the ballot and always gets a measurable percentage of the vote. Multiple pro-marijuana political parties here and have been since 1970s and earlier. Very, very politically active. Third party and independent candidates are electable, including at the state level (notably, former Governor Jessie Ventura, and also others in the 20th Century). An independent or third-party candidate/winner would be harder for TPTB to control, so a lot of outside campaign $$$$$$
People in Minnesota aren't playing ball with "the agenda" So TPTB keep trying, beyond the point of being totally blatant and obvious (and still ineffective)
According to Obama, "not enough people of color" here (or in the Dakotas, Montana, and Idaho). Guess he forgot about all the Native Americans/First Nation peoples
The way races are defined is part of why Minnesota looks "more White" on paper than it is.
Tribal membership/eligibility for certain benefits limited to those with at least 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, or 1/32 traceable/verifiable Native American/First Nation/specific Tribe blood depending on the Tribe or program/benefit. Guess he also forgot about the large number of Reservations here, which are technically not USA. American Indian Movement (AIM) HQ here.
African American historically defined as "just one drop"
Asians not counted as "people of color" when it suits TPTB.
Minnesota has actually done a decent job with most immigrant populations, when compared with other places. Most of this is due to very high church involvement in communities and historic/traditional/continuing Lutheran social liberalism. Minnesota very accepting/welcoming of different races, ethnicities, etc., so easier for immigrants to assimilate and thrive, and not the historic, systemic racism found elsewhere. A lot of immigrants convert to Christianity here and there are a lot of foreign Christian missionaries here. This doesn't make TPTB happy and it may be that they're trying to overwhelm/quash Christian evangelism. We're not gonna quit praying or witnessing or relying on God to provide. Very high Christian percentage of the population, although overall very liberal. Kool to see African and Asian Christian congregations springing up (and growing fast, not in mega church way) that helps immigrants both spiritually and to assimilate and thrive. Ha ha, take that PTB
TPTB want to break the neighborhood and community bonds that form when neighbors cooperate to make it through winter. Year after year. Shoveling snow, especially when the consequences of not shoveling are very problematic, builds a work ethic and pragmatism. TPTB surely can't allow that.
Huge LGBTQABCXYZ population.
Medical and agricultural industries, several universities, money, very large middle class, and widespread opportunities for upward mobility so long as not trapped by Section 8 and/or Medicaid programs. Taxes are already higher here than most other places (for the average person) and state tries to keep a surplus on-hand for emergencies, so TPTB want to make them spend it and then some to bankrupt the state like other states are going bankrupt. Social benefits are mostly all-or-nothing instead of sliding scale, so easy to get trapped in poverty if take Section 8 or Medicaid. TPTB are working very hard to destroy the middle class here. Major tactic is ripping out affordable houses/neighborhoods and replacing with boxes (mostly rental apartments). Prevents people from building equity or saving for the future because rent provides no return for the renter and only enriches the owners and government Rent always goes up, so elderly and disabled eventually lose housing and have to move or forced onto Section 8 and Medicaid, which traps them in poverty until death. This is what TPTB want because power and control. Much harder to control people that have fixed costs, especially if a fully paid off house. Much harder to control people in individual houses with multiple exits than a bunch of people with only two or three or four exits.
Strategically, headwaters and upper limits of navigability of the Mississippi River. Westernmost Great Lakes port.
Etc., etc., etc.

Back to the hurricane
Houston got a lot of people from New Orleans that were displaced by Katrina.I went for a week without power after Hurricane Ike hit Houston. I actually got used to it after a couple of days. But we were fortunate in one aspect. After the Hurricane left we were blessed with a mild cool front which cooled things off nicely. It was like nice fall weather and no humidity.
I'm so happy to read this! I've been praying for you and over all of the impacted areas. If I believed in mother nature Is say she's in a bad mood. Those hurricanes can be unpredictable. The media keeps comparing Ida to Katrina. I'm just glad you are ok. Praise God and for you to be able to post from your phone is great because I was hoping to hear from you. God bless you.
Rose, I think Chris and Adrian both have contact information for all RF members.Ive been praying for her and Mike. I hope someone from here has personal contact with her who can let us know how they are. Praying for Susan and Mike
I figured Chris and Adrian has her contact information and also that many lost power and our prayers for them are being received by our Father in heaven and I am confident He is watching over his children. But as you say it's a very sad situation and it has caused so much devestation. Thank you for your post.Rose, I think Chris and Adrian both have contact information for all RF members.
However, since New Orleans was hit so hard with massive power failures, unless Susan & Mike relocated prior to Ida, they most likely couldn't be reached by anyone. Such a sad event.
