Liz Cheney: Trump critic blasts Republican 'personality cult' after defeat

A leading Republican critic of Donald Trump has said the party "embraced his cult of personality" after she was ousted in a primary election.
Liz Cheney, 56, was defeated by the political newcomer and Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman in Wyoming.
She faced an uphill battle to win re-election after joining the congressional committee investigating Mr Trump's attempts to cling to power.
Ms Cheney - once a rising star in the party - also voted to impeach Mr Trump.
The primary election in the broadly conservative state highlighted the competing wings of the Republican Party - with more traditional conservatives facing off against Trump-backed candidates around the country ahead of mid-term elections in November.
The result means Ms Cheney, a three-term congresswoman and the eldest daughter of former Vice-President Dick Cheney, will not contest her seat in the US House of Representatives which she has held since 2017.
It marked another victory for Mr Trump, who has backed dozens of candidates ahead of the mid-term elections that will determine control of Congress as well as governorships and state legislatures.

So glad to see her go.
Did you guys hear how she’s running a woman campaign for POTUS? Yep. Thank You Lord!

God bless those who stood up for the rest of the citizens of this country and voted out Cheney! You are a shining example in showing that we are fed up with the Dems. We have a duty to help back our conservative candidates by showing up and voting. And praying that we can rid our country of some of the most demonic politicians ever!

Praying for God’s will to be done and that we have a revival before the Rapture!

Yeah, and I was hoping Murkouski in Alaska would lose bigly too, but they said she would go forward (whatever that means). I guess I don't understand how it works in Alaska mmm TT? :idunno

Right now I think the only person who understands our new voting system is Murkowski. After she lost the Republican primary last round and made history by winning the general election as a write-in unbeknownst to most Alaskans she and her people went to work to create an open primary system along with rank order voting. I figured it was some Soros funded groups doing that but it has come to light that it was Murkowski and her people who managed to do that to us.

Murkowski had the most votes, I think, in this open primary, so her name will be on the general election ballot in November. It seems she still has a lot of support in the state because the growing number of liberals in the state tend to vote for her. This state has become to liberal for me, politics-wise. If the primary was like the old way, Murkowski would have lost the primary handily and her only choice would have been to run as a write-in candidate again.

Anti-Trumpers, libertards, deep staters, one worlders... don't seem to understand that it's not a cult following Trump, it's like minded freedom loving people who cherish traditional values and rule of law, and Trump just happens to be a man who governed in a way that supported those things more than anyone else has in recent history. Thus, he's gained/earned the trust of that segment of society.

Concur. Over the last year or so, I have been critical of Trump the man, not Trump the President. I have followed Trump since the 90s, and knew he would one day run for President, and I voted for him twice, and will do so again if he decide to run. It will be interesting to see him win, and knowing he wont face reelection, he will become completely untethered, which will be good for the USA.

I heard that too my reaction was laughter. Does she really think she has a chance? :bouncies
She sees herself as the savior of American people, saving them from Trump. Apparently her handlers dont let her read the polls which clearly show the majority support Trump.

If you cant hold your own House seat, where your neighbors vote for you, how can any sane person think they can win the GOP Presidential nomination? The only ones who would vote for her have last names of Cheney, Bush, and Romney.
