Lawmakers consider pump relief stimulus

Lawmakers are proposing ways to provide some relief at the pump as record-high gas prices hit drivers in the wallet.

It could come in the form of a stimulus check, similar to the pandemic relief program.
That's one idea pitched by House Democrats, according to FOX 59.

The Biden administration briefly considered sending out gas cards through the IRS.

The average price for a regular gallon of gas stood at $4.24 nationally on March 22, according to AAA.

Reps. Mike Thompson of California, John Larson of Connecticut and Lauren Underwood of Illinois are calling for an energy rebate of $100 per month for individuals or $200 for couples for each month the national gas price exceeds $4 per gallon.

Californians are dealing with the nation's highest gas prices. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom rolled out a proposal on Wednesday, a plan that could provide a tax break, free rides on public transit and up to $800 on debit cards to help pay for fuel.

The money would go to everyone who has a car registered with the state. For people who don't have cars, Newsom wants the state to pay for their bus or train fare for three months, according to the Associated Press.

We have oil here and according to Sean Hannity, Canada offered to sell us oil and the Key stone Pipeline would be finished now if Dumbo hadn't stopped it. He needs to tell the environmentalists to shut up and let these companies drill for oil like they were doing during Trump's presidency. If the government really wanted to help they would do something about the gas prices, not just another stimulus that will run out. I really miss the real President and his "mean tweets". It never ceases to amaze me on how liberals can spend money we don't have by just printing more as long as there is the nk and paper. From my understanding, during the pandemic stimulus cycle California lost billions of dollars in stimulus money. People like convicted murderer Scott Peterson who is in a California prison got stimulus money too as also did other felons in prison. Then because the Federal government didn't issue stimulus to illegal immigrants, Governor Newsom issued stimulus checks to illegal immigrants who live here in this sanctuary state.
How long will the stimulus money that doesn't really exist last? How does a monthly check for less than the monthly cost of gas for most commuters make a real difference?

But voters are seeing the real effects of socialism/Dem Liberalsim starting. If the Dems don't do something, they'll lose their voter base when they realize how bad socialism/Dem Liberalism sucks. So their "solution" is to offer a government bandaid that'll temporarily ease the socialism pain while also conditioning voters to rely on the government more and more, instead of actually fixing the problem. And then the cycle will repeat, and voters will get more and more dependent on the government while the government goes more and more in debt, and then taxes will be raised- rinse and repeat.

Of course, fixing the actual problem that has led to these prices never occurs to these socialist fools. Because the thing that would fix the problem runs counter to their own policies. So, far better to print more money and run up the deficit even further than they have and drive inflation even higher. That makes sense.

Isn't it ironic that just as those midterms are getting close they suddenly scramble to put a band-aid on the crisis that they caused but as soon as the election is over and their power is secured again then they will rip off the band-aid and resume their damaging policies. When I was in high school I worked for an old German neighbor. Old means that him and his wife lived through the inflation in Germany just before Hitler. He said that work would pay the workers when the stores opened up so the wives could buy food. My neighbor said it got so bad that a wheelbarrow full of money would buy a loaf of bread if you were lucky.

That is how bad inflation can get. Ours is working toward that with the demoncrats printing and giving.
