Israelis Come to See Red Heifer and Discuss the Temple

The Ark disappeared centuries ago, it was never in the second temple, I do know one thing, if it's some place God disapproves of, he would make sure it found it's way to somewhere he did approve of, remember what happened to the Philistines when they stole it.

1 Samuel 5 and 6
So they don't need the ark for the prophecy to be fulfilled?

I kind of had the impression that the AC, when he desecrated the Temple would sit on the Ark. And unlike in Samuel, nothing would happen because the presence and glory of God has already departed from the ark. But this idea (of the Anti-Christ sitting on the ark) comes from 2 Thessalonians 2:4. There are no chairs inside the Holy or most Holy place, so where else is he sitting? Not on the floor, I'm sure...

Interesting question.

I hadn't thought about that. Checking strong's concordance in the blue letter Bible site, it seems to be the same root word as is interpreted dwell in Acts 18:11. Perhaps he remains in the temple? Was there a place to sleep there? That is unusual, I don't picture the antichrist just staying there the whole time.

I don't picture it either. Just how big was the Holy of Holys? I don't see why anybody would want to stay there.
