Is America Exceptional and why?

We are exceptionally good at leading the world in abortions, porn use, and who knows what else.

Of course Im highly partial to my own country, and Im glad I was born here, but exceptional.....no.

I tend to not pay attention to countries, but think more in terms of believers and non believers.

Nowhere on this planet is my home, I'm just camping out for now, doing what I can for Him until He calls us Home.

I think American exceptionalism has ran it's course but I do believe it once existed. America is a great country because of the Constitution, the free republic, the land, the resources, and for most of the past 250 years they've given globally, protected globally, and allowed entry and naturalization globally. Perhaps our supposed/actual Christian heritage pointed us in the right direction. Perhaps not. However, when you look at all the other countries across the globe their deeds globally in love, care, help, support, and defense of others does seem to pale in comparison.

I am from pauper to a business owner and I am in a family of business owner and entrepreneur in-laws and husband. I just love that you can do that here. You can be engaged in a wide variety of vocations and I am thankful and appreciative for that.

With that said and understood, no I not think we are exceptional. That is a word few things are worthy of. We have sacrificed that ol' time religion, objective law, and tooth n' nail fought ideas on an alter of hedonism and relativism and that disqualifies us from such an exceptional word or idea. I say come Lord. Give us a King and government worth praising.

I think America is exceptional because of our founding document, because of our form of government (separation o the branches of government and our laws, lastly I think that America is exceptional because of the vast amount of Christians in the country.

Someone came to America to try to discover America's greatness, he looked at many aspects of the country, but it wasn't until he went into our churches that he discovered the greatness.

I think a better answer than what I posted earlier is simple.

From mans point of view, the USA is exceptional when compared to the majority of countries in the world.

From His point of view, filthy rags, all that matters is unsaved or saved.

I have debunked the second paragraph myself on Snopes.

I would say that America has been the land of exceptional opportunity. We have had the freedom to worship as we please, speak as we believe, work at occupations we choose, and achieve as much as God has gifted us to achieve. All of that is in jeopardy now, but these were the freedoms that built our country into one of the strongest and most prosperous in history. I believe the key to our country's success was in unleashing the potential of 'ordinary' people, as opposed to the elites who control most societies. For generations, common people in this country were often God fearing and had sound morals. They worked hard and sacrificed to make better lives for their children and grandchildren. Sadly, their offspring who grew up in prosperity were often ashamed of the very values that had brought about their abundant lifestyles. Thus began the decline of our 'exceptionalism'.

I also believe our country has been greatly blessed by God. At one time this country was filled with strong, faithful Christians who took the Great Commission seriously and spread the gospel throughout the world. I understand, of course, that not everyone was a faithful active Christian, but there were enough to make a tremendous impact for Christ even in some of the most remote areas one could imagine. Their impact on America was profound as well. Among the common people, even non believers usually had a Judeo Christian view of the world. That in itself contributed to the stability and prosperity of the nation. Bible believing Christians also led the way in the abolition of slavery, the Civil Rights movement, the stand against abortion, and support for the rebirth and reestablishment of Israel as a nation. I believe God honored their faithfulness by blessing the country they lived in.

That era has now passed. The number of people who consider themselves Christians in the U.S continues to dwindle down each year, and many who would call themselves Christian don't really believe in the Jesus of the Bible. Secularism, Atheism, Witchcraft, Satanism, Cults and other false religions are growing at a tremendous pace. America seems to delight in rebelling against anything associated with God nowadays. Without a vital Christian faith to bind us together, our 'exceptionalism' has evaporated. We are no different than any other country now- perhaps worse since we have no excuse for not knowing God. As a nation, we are filthy and ripe for judgement.

It's not surprising that we are ending so badly. God tells us that Jesus is the only one truly fit to rule the World. Every human government system eventually decays into corruption and totalitarianism. I am longing for Jesus' return and the wonderful government He will bring. It will be 'exceptional' beyond anything we have ever seen.
